I am in the process of building new columns/pillars for my new fence (i will have a pics and info when done) and I thought of something that might just be different. When I build the structures, what do you think about painting one or more sides with that caulk paint? This way, the tots can leave massage on what they thought of the haunt. After Halloween, just wipe it off and your ready for next year. What do you think? Does it take away from the haunt? Corny?

I like the idea but, I think I would do one side per year with something permanent. That way they can find their name the year after. Then the next year they can sign their name again. That is if you have the storage space for the columns to use year after year.

Instead of paint I would try to locate a chalk board and in corperate in to the column.
Or yo could use side walk chalk..

one year in my haunt i drew a tombstone and let everyone sign it. i wish i had done that every year. i agree with growler, do it so it's permanant and then put it up in later haunts. i think it will be a hit

There was a pizza party place near us that used to let anyone who celebrated their birthday there put their handprint and name on the wall. I know it was a big deal for the kids to see it everytime we visited.. The only downside of it being permanent is that older kids may write things you don't want to look at year after year, lol, but I like the idea of a keepsake for you and something that the kids can revisit each Halloween.

Stuck to the wall all in one location. Lucky it only reeks of "Gum" just a couple of days a year.
    Then I tell everyone it's "Complimentary gum, I think it's sugar-less now!"
Then one night somebody thought they saw a tooth sticking out of a piece of it!
    YUK!
    "Is that real gum?"
"No, it's Hollywood prop gum it costs $50.oo a pound!"
    "Wow!"

We use a guest book and bring it in at night. we ( the actors) get a kick out of reading the comments.
before halloween I tell my actors who ever gets the most compliments on their room or costume, gets a prize from me.
thats a neat idea , signing the tombstone.

    I like the handprint idea.
I am not in to gore but, a bunch of little bloody handprints would be creepy!

This sounds like a great idea, same little ones come back year after year.
