Thread: Where would you find a countdown clock?

I've seen the ones for Christmas but I'm more interested in trying to find one that I can manually set and hang in the garage. LED and nice and big. If I can get one that shows milliseconds then so much the better!

I know Michaels offered a witch one, but that's all I've seen, though making your own may not be too bad.

Two years ago I bought a great Halloween countdown clock from Michaels.

You have a good point about making your own. If you buy any type of countdown clock, you can take the electronics and display out and put it into something else. You can get pretty creative if you want to.

I remember someone talking about trying to make one in the shape of a tombstone that would be at the front of his haunt. I really liked that idea.

Big Lots! had a Xmas countdown clock this past year. I thought someone bought one to try converting it to Halloween but gave up on their clock and returned it. Don't remember what the issue was.

You know, this would make a good tutorial request. You should consider posting it as one under that forum.

A tutorial request is a good idea, I'll get one on there this afternoon. I like the clock above but being able to set the countdown over 99 days would be ideal. I've looked online but the only ones I've found were very expensive with all the bells and whistles...some even with their own power source and connected to gps for accuracy.

Building a halloween frame around it is a great idea!

Hmm, I think maybe that's something I'll try doing if I can buy a countdown clock, I like the tombstone idea... good idea guys! I think I'll put some kind of mock-up together when I can, I'm sure TK is already doing the same.

I'm liking the tombstone countdown idea! Hmm, does anyone know if you can play around with the date to which the clock is counting down to in the Christmas versions? I think I spotted a couple in a clearance isle or two, and as I recall they looked relatively easy to mod into something Halloween-ish. I just didn't take too close a look since I wasn't thinking about it.

I was thinking that if you are incorporating either a witch theme with cauldron (maybe the cauldron would be the clock) or even a mad scientist lab (not sure what I would make into the clock) you could make it into a sign of sorts saying something like "...cooking up something for you in ---- days ---- hours --- minutes". I guess if you wanted to go with the tombstone route you could make it into a sign saying "Space available in --- days,...drop by for a tour"

Personally I would be happy with a sign that just counted down the days until Halloween or when the haunt started if running multiple days.

BTW found the old post I remembered and Diabolik had posted awhile back about creating a tombstone shape for one. Diabolik did you ever get around to creating one? Love to see pics of your creation if you did.
