Greetings all,
I was at Lowes today and for the heck of it I cruised through the Xmas Lights aisle. I have been buying up C7 sizes 25 foot Christmas light strings that I cut up to use in my PVC candles I've been making, and then replacing the bulbs (that are chandelier size) with flicker bulbs I generally get for about $1 a piece when I buy them in 25 piece lots. I will make a tutorial about this in the Prop-Step-By-Step section soon.
Low and behold Lowes is selling 10 foot xmas light strings with flicker bulbs already in them for $7.97, and selling FAST!!! Not only do you get the C7 sized cord with the fixtures, but you get the c7 sized bulbs as well!!! Now thats cheap cheap cheap cheap.
These are selling out fast at these prices ... so if you go to Lowes.com and type in "flicker lights", you will see them come up and you need to check if "your" store has them in stock.

I also found these cool little ground flood / spot light holders that were $3.67 that would be greet for illuminating your Halloween graveyard.
Here is what I bought:

Yep, I've been buying those strings on after christmas sales the last few years just for the bulbs as it's typically cheaper than replacement flicker bulbs. But, there's always been fewer and fewer left for the sales. Word has gotten out.

Just a note here. I bought several packages of the flicker light C7 strands at Menards before Halloween. They were in Halloween packaging and they also had Christmas packaging of the same type of lights, but with green wire. The lights said you could plug them string to string. Well, for Halloween as soon as I plugged two strings of them together they blew the fuses on both strings. I replaced the fuses and the same thing happened again. I meant to return them all, but never did. I don't know if the Lowes lights are the same mfg., or if this has happened to anyone else, but I just thought I'd mention it. For the record, I never did just try using one string by itself, so maybe they would have been fine if I had not plugged them in together. But the packaging said you could do that.

Thanks Hirez00 for the heads up. Hope I can find them at my Lowes and I like the idea of using them in a string of candlesticks and it does sound like a bad price. I'll look for your tutuorial.

Definitely check online using their search engine first. My friend tried to go get them last night and they were sold out already. Normally I would wait until "after Christmas" sale but they seem to be vanishing fast.
I will probably write / post the new tutorial for the PVC candles using these types of strings this weekend.

Here is an example of my candles –

Here is a sample of my electric candles made with the "flicker lights" string I bought at lowes. I also picked up a 6 foot brown extension cord that was also on sale for 97 cents. Note the second photo allows me to link together a couple sets of these candles, without blowing the fuse that originally comes with the plug on the flicker string. I removed it and used the extension cord. I am not planning to put more than 10 lights (candles) on 1 electric line ... which is what the original cord carried by itself (but the box seaid you could link up to 4 string totally 40 lights) but I am not going to risk overloading the line ... so I did it this way.
Anyway ... I snapped these with my camera phone, so excuse the low quality of the photos.
