Due to the wonderful weather we had in the last 2 years, I ask my wife maybe we should do the haunting in the house and kids come throught the house for next year.

She hated the ideal and I do understand why she doesn't want to.

When I say in the house, I mean "in the house". We already use the garage, wich sadly, is not that big.

Would you let kids come inside the house on halloween, and if you did, did you regret it?

We have never allowed kids into our home on Halloween. Times have most certainly changed and I remember going into peoples homes when I was young, and having them hand you candy. IMO there is too great a risk for something to "go wrong." Your liability increases having kids come into your house; breakge, theft, vandalism, being accused of something. Keep the kids outside. We do have part of our haunt in our garage which is wide open. The house is off limits.

We don't allow the ToTers inside either. Would hate for them (and their parents) to see the pig pen I live in!! The layers of dust are scarier than my haunt! LOL

We did, years ago when we lived in a very large house with a basically unused basement. We did an elaborate walk-thru that took eight minutes. Seven different rooms visited in a figure of eight configuration. BUT. Nobody went upstairs; that was reserved for friends and guests, people we knew. Friends who had traveled, in some cases a far distance, to visit the haunt, and we wanted to let them relax and enjoy the evening while we scared kids downstairs. But, in hindsight, that was the perfect house, two levels, 3,000 Sq. Ft., massive yard, long driveway, for that sort of thing.

If you live in a place where opening up "to the Public" is viable, go for it. But be advised - you're letting a bunch of strangers in...

Unfortunately with how things are in the world today I do not see a lot of parents letting their children into someones home. I know I would be weary of it if I had children. So therefore you would risk losing some hauntees if you choose to move into your home. But I guess this would depend on how well you know your neighbors and how well they know you too. We have always done ours in our garage. And then you add the possibility of someone breaking or stealing something from your house. IMO the cons outweigh the pros in the situation.

for 2 years we did the haunt and it was such bad weather, we had 6 chairs lined up just inside the door where people could sit and wait for their kids to go through if they didn't want to. the haunt was in the basement. my mom, husband, son in law, and a friend manned the door and chairs. and tot were escorted to and from the basement by me. it went okay

We don't even let people in our YARD, let alone our house. We have a walk through in the garage, but people have to stay on the sidewalk, or on the driveway if they're waiting in line. We have a large deck between the house and garage, so we block that off and use it for our "backstage" area.

I wouldn't recommend it, I would think that would create such a huge mess, especially if the weather was bad

That's a hard one. As much time & effort we put in securing our outdoor decor, it seems crazy to invite strangers into the house. I guess if you cleared the area of any & all valubles, had family/friends stationed throughout, you could do it. Guess I'm just not that trusting.
