So I'm a semi-commerical artist working in the public sector. I'm quite familar with the Adobe products and have used them to mock-up some of my work, similar to what TK does. Well recently when looking for plans on making a drafting table I came across Google SketchUp.
I don't know if anyone else uses this, but I highly recommend you do. Really anyone can use it with enough practice, there are tons of tutorials out there and items that other people have created to incorporate in your design. I'm working on building the property I do my haunt on, but I wanted to mess with it for a future Mausoleum project... So here that is:
Now what I find really helpful about this, is that you can build things to scale, and it you can have it measure sides and show that info, so bascially you can make the blueprints, but also see it in 3d. I hope to do a lot more with this and I think I'm going to use it to layout my haunt for next year. Just thought I'd share and see if anyone else uses it!

I love google sketch up. I measured out the yard and the house and built a too scale model. now I can build things to scale and place them i the yard and see how they fit. I used it to plan my volcano this year. I worked out pretty good. I had to move the volcano forward into the yard more, but the sclae is right.

Awesome. What I love is that we could share the files, and then adjust the design to fit our needs. I think this could do some great things for people who aren't so good at planning out what they want to build. I worked on this today, it will become a second focal pt for the cemetery, the lid will go up and down with the skeleton hand, maybe some fog and a light too! If anyone else has used it, please share!

Wow... I've gotta say those are amazing. I've tried sketchup in the past and after a few minutes always deleted it because it was just frustrating...but with stuff like that, I'm willing to give it another shot now.
...and devils chariot, I love the volcano.

I am going to have to try out this site. Those are amazing scale modles and they can show were things go and fit.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I used to use sketchup, then got out of it and got Solid Works for school. Then got into it until after just Monday when we got the new Solid Works 2009 at school. Now since you just gave me a great idea I am going to get back into it. One Question though, can you import other models into another model. Like if I made each prop and tombstone individually, then had a model of my house and property to import them to.
