Now that the Halloween rush is over for 2009, and for many of us, it is just beginning for 2010, I just wanted to take a moment to thank our host, Larry, and all members of this great forum. Thank you for making this a fun and interesting forum to visit! The level of support, encouragement, sharing of talent, tips, construction secrets, and the general love for all things Halloween is amazing. I have other hobbies (yes, it is true). The forums related to other interests, that I visit when I am not here, pale in comparison to Halloween Forum.com.
Other forums, whether Halloween related or not, seem to have threads that fall apart with a "my way is the only way" mentality, flame wars, sniping and trolls. Bad attitudes and inflated egos seem to rule. That is not the case here. Fair and firm moderation is part of it, but the level of respect displayed by everyone here, is what make this a special place to come to, in order to escape, learn and share. I am amazed at the talent members here have. There are folks with incredible skills all across the board: sculpting, electronics, pneumatics, sound mixing, computer and digital controls, construction, set design, costuming, party and food preparation, etc.
The thing that stands out to me is that you are all willing to share your work and ideas. I have yet to see an overly inflated ego being displayed, or anything less than genuine compliments being given. The work displayed by members acts as an inspiration and a challenge to me to improve my own work product, yet I never feel intimidated, threatened or unfairly criticized here. I'll take suggestions and constructive criticism any day, as it only helps me improve and enjoy my prop building even more. For that I thank all of you.
I know that most people do not understand or share our enthusiasm for Halloween year round. This forum provides us with a place we can go to and share our enthusism with others that do understand us and really get what it is all about. The membership here keeps it that way and keeps it as a respectful environment.
Thanks again to our great host, and to each and every one of you that visits here daily or even just a few weeks a year. You all make this the best place to visit on the internet!
Ok, enough of my sentimental, yet genuine side.Time to get back to planning and building dead looking stuff for 2010!

Well I think it is geat that you started this thread and all I can add to this is....................
Ditto!Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Thanks for posting that, Wolfbeard.
I think you've summed up (very eloquently, may I add) the way that most of us feel about our second home.
A great big "Ditto" from me, too!!

Yep, this IS a great site for those of us afflicted with the Halloween Disease. Before I stumbled onto this site, some five years ago, I used to think that I was strange, a wack-o, weird, wired different, there was nobody else like me, NOBODY put tombstones out on their Front Lawn. Then I met you guys...
