I have a question about Photo Floods.......

I bought two 500 watt photo floods, both white and blue. I was told they shouldnt have the yellow "warm up" and "warm down" phase that a standard light bulb has, but, mine do the same thing, they are basically the same as a regular light bulb but much brighter. Now, did I buy the wrong kind or did I expect to much, the way I understood their function was they would flash on and flash off with out the yellow warm up and down of a regular light.

Oh, I am connecting it to one of those Christmas Light FX boxes.

    this is what i bought.........
    EBV EBV PhotoFlood Lamp 500w 120v (3400k)
    and
    1000264 EBW PhotoFlood Lamp 500w 120v (Blue, 4800k)

    any advice?

You might have bought the wrong ones. Those are 500W bulbs, so they may take longer to warm up than the 250W ones most of us use.

Since the lightning FX boxes can only handle 500W total, I use two 250W bulbs and they flash very bright and quick. Try the BBA and BCA models.

What DGM said. I also use the 250W bulbs and don't have an issue with yellowing.
    I...have many names...

hum, okay, I was going to use 2 fx boxes (one for each bulb) and set the sensitivity different on each, but I'll grab these and see how they work.

    thanks!
