I'm not sure...I haven't seen any follow up on it, so I don't know if they intend to withdraw or recall them, or if they've just issued that info as an advisory.

Of course, permitted antimony levels and any subsequent action may differ between the UK and the US.

My wife went looking for these because her son wanted one ... she went to Walmarts, Targets, etc all around our area and they were all sold out everywhere ... I guess they don't last on the shelves very long.

People on eBay are selling them for as much as 10x what they cost.

Anyway, she did eventually find them at a Target near her work. They had just got a shipment of them in and she got the last 2 and I think one or two of the accessories (wheel / tubes) ...

I guess it is just a matter of luck finding these when they are in stock because they don't last long anywhere ... probably because they are so cheap.

Interesting hirez00. I pretty much thought everyone got their shipments for the season a while ago and when they were sold out that was it. Your step-son got lucky and has a nice mom. I made one round of visits to the stores but since this is an idea for halloween I will wait until after xmas when the shelves are restocked to look for my pet project.

BTW our TV news stations yesterday were reporting that there wasn't an issue of safety with them. I believe they said that the company that tested the toys didn't follow the approved testing method that was recognized by the U.S. Government and the E.U., and that if they had, the levels fell within the accepted levels. So basically told parents that if you were able to find one of these guys for your kid, go ahead and give it to them for the holidays.

Confirmation of this from the Argos.UK website this morning....

    Go Go Hamster Announcement
Argos would like to reassure its customers that it has received confirmation from the manufacturers of Go Go Hamsters that the Go Go Hamster range is entirely safe.

They have been tested and found to be fully compliant with both US Government and European Safety Standards.

We remain confident that these toys are completely safe and that there is absolutely no cause for our customers to be concerned.
