How much do you buy at "full price"? I personally spend very little at full price. Most of my Halloween budget is spent on clearance.

depends on if I need it or not, I actually didnt realize how much I needed until I went to the 50% off sale at Spirit....

I spend full price on things I really need/want or feel won't be around at the end of the season.

Price is the major determinate of need. I generally buy 1 or 2 major items before Halloween and probably a half dozen smaller accessories to finish a scene. Alot of the stuff I end up buying before is more about materials. Spray paint, duct tape, etc...
The two or three days before I go back around to the stores I know will be on 50% off and buy a couple more things that are good fillers. After halloween I may buy a couple more at 50% if I have a plan. For example, I picked up a 1000W fogger for 50% afterwards as I am planning to stage an acted scene next year that needs some fog.
But the big kicker is when it hits 90% off is when I go in for the kill. I picked up about $400 worth of items this year for $40. Its nothing I absolutley needed, but at $1 or $2 an item, its just stuff that I know as I pull out next year I am sure I will have a place for.
But more on that note. The amount of money I spend is greatly higher than the amount I spend afterwards. There is just those $50 to $200 props you walk by and you know you just cant risk leaving behind as it might be gone tommorow!

How much I am willing to pay, and if I will pay full price depends on a lot of things:
1) Do I really need it
2) Do I really want it
3) Can I afford it
4) Is the price already low
5) Could it be cheaper somewhere else
6) Is the item likely to go on clearance due to excess stock, high price, or low customer interest.
7) Is the item likely to sell out before I can go back to the store or find it at another store.
Unlike the Juice, I tend to be a loser in the clearance game. I either pay full price and it goes on clearance soon after. Or I wait for the item to go on clearance but it sells out first.
I have found great items on clearance. But not usually the items I was looking for.
Therefore I buy most items I want or need at full price. But because I am cheap... those prices tend to be low anyways.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

I do agree that it depends on the item. And price at different stores is a big factor. This year my budget sucked. But last year I had my eye on the spinning head Hex guy at Spirit. It was about $120. Then I saw it at Walgreens for $65 (I believe) and got them to knock of 10% because the prong on the plug was bent. And they only had one, so I had to take it.

Depends. When I bought props like Michael or Jason, there was no chance of getting it at anything less than full price or with a coupon. The best stuff sells out a lot. Since a lot of things are only made once, I am sometimes not willing to risk.

I'm an all clearance kinda guy. With the way the economy is, it allows me to indulge in my favorite holiday without going to the poor house! This was my first year of really buying stuff to "haunt my home" after we bought our house and I went for the after Halloween sales. I am officially hooked.
