I know this has been discussed on here many time but I thought I would share our experience from this past Halloween. We have been haunting for 8 years give or take and this is the first year we have taken up donations for our local Humane Society. We made flyers that talked about us and our cause and had them available, set up booth that was interactive and had a slot for $. Anyway, we ended up collecting $736.69 for our cause. There are pictures of this years haunt in my Halloween 2009 album.

    Congrats!

This is a wonderful idea. And I am glad you and your family were so successful.

$736.69 is a lot of money for food for starving strays and medical treatment for the sick and injured animals the Humane societies find (And all the other rescue and adoption efforts)

That's one elaborate display you have. Nice collection of props, good lighting and nicely laid out. I'm liking the bucky in the trunk candy "dish". Great job!

Well done! I am thinking of doing a charity next year. Just have to find the right cause.

Red Cross would be a great choice.
    They are an amazing organization.

When my husband was 10 his family lost their house and everything they owned in a fire.
Within an hour the Red Cross was there and they gave his family some clothes, vouchers for a hotel, and vouchers for food.
And they helped them contact their insurance company and fill out the fire reports.

That is a lot of money and a great cause you raised it for.... I'm impressed. I'm glad there are so many people willing to donate...plus they get a great scare. You can't beat that.
