Default pallets

My sis has got some pallets given to her free and she wants to break them down so she can make some projects.

What is the easiest way to break them down, I have tried this before and broke my hammer because the nails they use hold on like a mo-fo......?

I don't think there is an easy way. I used a sawzall, and it was still a pain in the #ss! I'll be curious to see if anyone has any better ideas.

I also found no easy way. I did use a large crowbar which helped some. But still alot of sweating and cussing.

Well said....."No easy way." I used my skill saw to cut them for a fence.

We get free pallets all the time to make our coffins each year. Blood, sweat and tears is the easiest way. Or, con a friend into doing it for you. :-)

a case of beer and some friends with hammers

lol, yeah they are some tough buggers but the price is right. Hammer and a prybar is what I use.

sawzall, prybar, hammer, mini sledge, beer, cursing, blood, sweat and of course friends. They all have various levels of success, but the key here is she got them for FREE and the rest is just an investment of time.

I use this.

Basically you can just use a hammer to pound it in between the boards and get under the nail and pop the boards off. I don't like having nails in mine. If I am making something where I don't care if it has nails I use a reciprocating saw. But, using this nail puller is a pretty fast way of doing it. Crow bars are too hard to get in between the boards and they end up breaking the boards.

Use a circular saw to cut the boards as near to the 2x4 as possible. You will lose a little bit of length, but save much time and energy.
