Hey all. Sorry I haven't been around much but life has been a bitch plus our internet was down for a couple of weeks.

We did our haunt this year with the big inflatables, bubble foggers out front for the little ones and the hard haunt again in the back yard.

All night we fought rain and slick muddy trails. I ended up laying sheets and towels down along the trail to prevent people from slipping/falling. We eventually had to shut down around 10pm when the rain just became relentless.

But what surprised us the most was that the people kept coming! In spite of the rain, a good time was had by all.

We installed our first ever Dot Room and it was a huge hit. Here is a vid of us testing it out just before running our first group of victims through the haunt...(there are more vids of our haunt on my youtube account under the nickname RoseBlood77 if you want to see more).

Good job! Are those fun or what? We had one last year in the haunt and I was shocked at how easy it was to make but what a dramatic effect it was. Love it!

Yeah, the dot room is a fantastic effect and so easy to pull off. it really took our victims by surprise. We had several people run through the haunt again and our dot-person caught them off guard by hiding in different sections of the room. She got them every time hehehe

    Much fun.

Cassie, what materials did you construct your dot room out of? Great video by the way!

Homestead, we used one of those 10x10 pop up yard tents and lined it with 4mil black plastic and hung a 4 foot black light from the top of it.

We went to Office Depot and bought a couple of packs of florescent dots (price dots most people use for their yard sales). On off times while watching tv at night, I cut strips off the sides of the dot strips (that provided the straight line strips). I thought the straight lines mixed in with the dots added to the dizzy effect.

We stuck the dots and strips on the plastic and on a black robe which the actor wore and that's it. The robe had one of those dark mesh face hoods so their face was hidden but they could see out fine.

Can't get any simpler than that! I was super happy with the result and it blew people away.

I've been wanting to do a dot room for years and read up on techniques and I read that you shouldn't use plastic for the walls. They warned that the plastic will create reflections but i found no problem with it at all.

those rooms are always freaky. I saw one with a stationary object dressed in the dot material (this was a decoyu) Because the person in the dot outfit came from behind.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Thanks for the info! Every year we kick around the idea of doing a dot room but we always seem to go in a different direction. Seeing your video makes me think it finally dot room time! Great job!
