Default Overlooking the nighbors....

Did anyone have that problem??? With attention drawn to your house, like a wormhole that draws in kids... they walk right past the neighbors house. About 1 out of 10 groups did it. My neighbor was outside, partly watching the show at our house... and partly watching his lowlife'ted drinking buddy jump out of the lilac bush scaring kids. He had to yell, "hey over here!! we have candy too!!"..

Anyone else have that problem?? Not that its the worst thing that can go wrong per se... but it could effect your relationship with the neighbors.. Do you loan them a prop? Warn them in advance that they need to do much more decorating, being so close to ground zero and whatnot..

This is what the kids saw, when they walked right past the neighbors house.

Its not like they didn't decorate. They had a dozen or so tombstones, and some really nice pumpkins.

I don't think it would bother my neighbors.

It's a rare group of kids that miss a house that is offering candy... so many aren't "at home" during Halloween nowadays.

I didn't notice if any of the kids were skipping the neighbors, but I did notice we seemed to draw larger groups who stayed longer.

ha ha ha, I have had that happen. My house is the second one in on the street and they people in the first house totally got snubbed by the kids last year to the point that they said "We might as well just bring our candy over here". I will say though, the old owners did NOTHING more than maybe a single pumpkin. There are new owners in the home this year that did quite a bit of decorating. Even as far as to get a fog machine and it was fine this time around. The neighbor on the other side of me always does something for the kids too so it all works out fine.

Haha, this happened at our house this year. The kids apparently would only stop at our house and move on to other streets.

What do you do when your neighbor puts up TONS of lights and there’s no way you can compete….

This happened last year with us. I built a large pirate ship haunt on the front of our house and also had a small shipwreck scene in our front yard. The other neighbors do a little decorating, but not much. We live on a hill, so the majority of kids came to our house and then stopped and went back down the hill. We got around 100 kids last year but the folks living above us only got around 15 - 20.

So this year we built the Pirate ship again. We decided to throw a "Pirate Party" and invited all the neighbors. We told them to bring their candy to our house and put a note on their door to have the kids come the the "Pirate House"!

It worked great....this year we had about 200 kids and a great Halloween Pirate Party......!!!
