Each year the kids start to ask me "Hey lady are you going to do that haunted house again this year?" After reading your post maybe I will reconsider. As for you....you should make a sign for your yard next year or the next time you do your haunt that states "2009 Scariest house winner" Thanks for sharing this story I loved it!!!
I know that feeling exactly. Last year I entirely gave up on Halloween for about 2 months. I wasn't even going to put up the stuff I had finished let alone do any more work. Then one day I got a moment of inspiration and got what I could get done. Getting the warm reception made it well worth all the work. Then I realized what I could have achieved with the two months I wasted.

I just found this thread and it completely warmed my heart. For all the hard work and money and time you put into your yard. Haunters you have no idea whose kid or adult you are making their Halloween night. And you really are making memories out there and I would rather be known as the coolest Halloween or scariest Halloween house then the crazy neighbor. As long as it is possible to haunt I would do it.

Also Spookie, I have been dealing with an illness in my family my mother. My heart hasnt been in haunting this year very much. But when Halloween comes and my yard is bare I think it would be the worst feeling in the world. I am going to try my hardest to make it the best year ever. I hope you reconsider it HUGS

Aww! That's a very sweet thing for her to do. It would definately make me rethink another year.
