Boy what could that thread title mean?
OK...
So my wife and I were out front taking down our display yesterday when a man walked up to me and handed me a CD. He went on to tell me that he lives down the street and has been enjoying watching the displays progress and wanted to share his appreciation by sharing some pictures he took. We spoke for about an hour on how he loves watching what we do every year and wonders how we will one up ourselves each year but never bothered to stop and say hello. I had more people this year show this kind of appreciation than every year previous combined. It is the little things like this that seem to make it all worthwhile.
On the CD were 62 images taken during the day and again on the night of Halloween. He also created a Flickr slide show of the images which can be seen here

Thanks for looking and I would love to hear your stories of complete strangers showing their appreciation of the hard work you have put forth.

Yep. I had several residents of my apartment building come out and actually thank me for doing the yard. Got to appreciate appreciation!
And that's a fine display you've got there. Looks like everybody had loads of fun! Congrats!Always cut away from yourself...and toward someone else.

Johan,
Great haunt! You do good work!
I had a bunch of folks come up and chat with me while I was setting up my pirate ship haunt and tell me how great it looked. Many of them asked if I worked in set design or for Disney and that was a great compliment!
I had my display set up by the first weekend in October and I would light everything up each night with the exception of the Tiki torches. I only lit those on the weekends....
I had many folks come and take pictures of my haunt and I even had them out in my yard today talking pics!!!!
Last year I ahd a guy come by and drop off a CD of pics he took of my haunt at night. They were way cool!
It is a great feeling to know that folks appreciate our Halloween spirit...
!!!!

The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

Triple threat? I will take that as a compliment.
Thanks for checking it out. I also had about 20-30 people knock on the door the night before asking if they could walk through.
All asked what will I do for an encore since there was no way I can possibly one up this year.
Just wait and see! muahahaha!
