Was on 2 tv channels, a newspaper and won 1000$ for being the scariest in Ottawa

This is my fourth halloween at where we bought out house, and we started with almost nothing, but kids loved what we did. So, being horror fans, we amped it up every year, and this year, we hit the homerun.

We were on the 2 biggest local tv channels in Ottawa (CTV and A-Channel), we had a nice article about us in our local newspaper, and we won from A-Channel 1000$ to be used at Spirit!(we learned of it on halloween eve, we ran to the tv station to claim the prize and hit the closest spirit store. The manager was not happy about it!(L).

The weather was ****, the wind was so strong, we lost our tunnel that was going to be a maze, more than half of our decorations and props was ripped apart, we scrambled to do a plan B.

At my job, everyone was anal about halloween. We had contests and all the judges were women and they all shited on me for being too scary, along my office... People were shockedI that I didn't win anything, somehow, I was not surprised, I work in the gorvenment, were changing the color of your tie is "being crazy!!".

I hope next year we will be able to built the maze we want.. will see...

Congrats on the news coverage. Now yolu are a celebrety. The 1000 will be great for haunting expenses for next year.

Congratulations! I had a much smaller haunt but I do know what you mean about the wind. I couldn't set up until about 1:00 p.m. due to the rain and then I lost a tombstone, two lights, and a motion sensor to the gale. It was ridiculous! And then, just as I had also set up my "plan B" ... the sun came out!

You make us Canadians proud..good to see we have more than a few who go all out..I hope to have a larger space next year, in return a larger haunt for a larger audience..
