Hey everyone, I am currently in the process of planning a haunted attraction in the upper east tennessee area, I have a story written out and backstories on the characters, because I am a huge stickler for continuity. I hate when the house does not follow the story. I am also wanting to make it look amazing and actually be scary. If anyone has any input about how to create a unique haunted attraction, please let me know, I have my own ideas, but I want to do some market research too. You know find out what people would like to see.

I think it is great that you want to create a haunted attraction for you community and your state.
Can you give us the theme of your haunted attraction so we can give you some ideas?Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

The general theme is a story about a local legend house that has been called a phantom house that once the tragedy happened to the family the house vanished. However, if you ever went looking for it you never found it. The house would always find you

ooooooo.... spooky. How did the family vanish? Was there evidence of foul play.. (ex blood) or did they just vanish into thin air?
This is a really unique theme so I am going to have to think about it for a while.
But you definetly have to look into projected images. That way you can have things appear and disappear quickly.
Sam's club was selling ghost writer tombstones.... blood would appear and disapper on the tombstone
Get a couple of ghost portraits where the images change.
You can have one of your actors be a historian, ghost hunter, or relative of the family doing research on the house, recounting the legend, and/or warning the visitors before they tour the haunt.
You propably need one or more flying crank ghosts.
And to build secret entrances/ exits so your actors can just disappear.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

Yeah there was foul play, the mother killed the two children and tried to kill the husband, but while defending himself, she died. He then hangs himself so they can be together forever. I want to use a lot of pepper's ghost effects. On our myspace we have a Character who is a Professor of Appalachain Studies at the local university who has been researching the story for years, and he posts articles on there of different accounts of people seeing the house through the years, and the house appears different to different people.

Are you going to show the actual violence and have the characters disappear?
Or will the characters have already disappeared and all that is left is evidence that violence occured (bloody weapons, pools of blood, swinging noose etc)Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

A little of both. There will be glimpses of what happened, but I want to leave some of it to the guests, the mind is the best story teller of all!
