Apparantly, I won a costume contest at work. One in which I did not KNOW about, and was not there to participate in.
Confused?
I left Bob in my chair before I left on vacation back on 10/23 as a lark. He's far too cutesy for the yard, and I thought it was funny. Well, last Teusday they announced a costume contest, and a local school was going to Trick or Treat around work on the 30th, and the kids would vote for best costume. Since I keep jolly ranchers on my desk anyway, a co-worker put a 'take one' sign on them, and Bob was voted best costume.
Some pics from our party on the 30th, I already posted elsewhere as well.
I so love this mask...
Charr in full glory. Many compliments on Charr, and a couple cousins that wanted nothing to do with it.
Little light pollution from the lighting on the gazebo.
My mom has NEVER, EVVVEEERRR worn a costume in her adult life. And she comes as spider woman. A theme we will be beginning to switch over to next year (might take a few years). (local native american folklore)
Firelight Fred.
(ok, it's not firelight, it's my most technical lighting of all, Par 56 spot, red and orange theatrical gels, on a dimmer pack)
100 people came by on Friday. About twice as many as last year. That might partially explain the oddities of the count on Saturday...
Anyhow. Lots of things went a little wrong last night. Mostly my fault, forgot this, didn't do that right, etc. Alec was sick, it was a full moon....
Our video camera, for whatever reason did not like the torch light too much. I would have thought it would have done great, considering how well it took to the dark rides...so, the night time video isn't the best.
Kyle really learned this year, and we had MANY more kids just plain refuse to enter the yard, period. Charr also had the kids fleeing, and with no mask this year, I was able to be a lot more animated than years past, which also had kids running.
My counter says our numbers were up by 200, but our candy count is down by 100. Not sure what that means. Older kids, more adults, or more repeat customers.
I only had 1 problem with patrons last night, when a hispanic family came through and the PARENTS attempted to empty the entire bowl into their kids bags. "no speak english" doesn't work on me. Worked with far too many spanish speakers not to know enought to deal with THAT little problem.
Set off the neighbors smoke detectors with all the fog...oops...Why do you have a smoke detector on your outdoors deck anyway?
At least 10 video cameras came through, I've been promised copies, but have had horrible luck with people coming through with those promises.

Nice pics...I wish I knew how to use my camera because all I get is the "lights" and everything else is dark.

UnOthodOx, you haunt looked awesome. I like your makeup much better that the mask, you're absolutely right your face can be much more animated that way.
Charr is the icing on the cupcake!! I can see why some little ones wouldn't come through. Great job, my friend.
And tell your mom she looked FABULOUS!!!
