First of all holy crap the kids came out soooooo early this year. They were coming in swarms at around 6pm! It wasn't even near dark! Also, this is the thing that really made me annoyed this year. I always run out and scare the kids every year and im known in the neighborhood and the place to go. Anyways, I was scaring these people down the street and a wanna be thug gets all "angry" I guess? And threatens to lay me out on the street and throws his hands up ready to fight? lol. Well, I told him to shut up and that was that, but I just dont understand why would you even come out in your own "costume" (which was a t-shirt and pants, I guess to complete his thuggish look) if you didnt want to be frightened just a little? wouldn't you expect that? Any one else get any people like that this year?![]()

Yeah, the late time change irked me as well - nothing like getting most of your TOTs in broad daylight. Happily a few waited 'til after dark, so I felt like my display got enjoyed by a few to full effect.
Nope, nobody acting 'thuggish' or obnoxious. Most were appreciative, or at the very least polite.Haunt to Live ... Live to Haunt

Yay a lot of mine were really nice and polite. The display turned out really great and everything went well expect for those two things
. Glad to hear it was a good year for you.

I usually dress up and lurk around my haunt, but I decided not to this year -- this had an unplanned side effect: Soo many people expected it, and when I wasn't doing it, they were walking on pins and needles in anticipation.
We used to get the occasional tough guy, but they just make me try harder to scare the stool outta them.
My biggest gripe about this year was the darned wind. I ended up not using three of my biggest stones because the wind just kept blowing them away, no matter what I tried to do to secure them.Recipe for haunting success-

Parents in our area actually coordinated to hit OUR house last, so it was dark. That was pretty awesome. They took it upon themselves to corral the kids in the street and make them go in small groups to make the experience a little better.
We only had maybe 100 kids, and half of those literally came at once, but they were metered as mentioned above. I just didn't have enough air in my 30 gallon tank to keep up! I don't see how those here with a thousand kids can run pneumatics..

I scared the crap outta one homie when he tapped me on the leg as I sat still slouched in my chair lol.
I guess I'm lucky he didn't wanna ack tough in front of his boys

We had no "thugs", no rain, no heavy winds, so I hate to complain. But if anyone will understand it's here. I had about 30 ToTs. I do not think one of them said Trick or Treat. I have lived in central Kentucky all my life so if it's a regional thing I don't think that's the problem here. Does anyone do things different? Growing up we would walk up to the door or people and say Trick or Treat then Thank You. The kids tonight would walk up and stand. And forget about saying thank you. The only kids to say thank you were our next door neighbors. Sorry to vent. Does this bother anyone else. I just turned forty this year am I starting to show my crotchety old man genes already?

I noticed all the kids said thank you but forgot the trick or treat part. I think it is mostly because they are looking at the decorations.

We had wind like crazy and pouring rain. Yuck!! I spent days and days repairing stuff and ended up not getting some stuff done because of it.
Night before last there was a blizzard and stuff had to be moved into the garage to protect it.
Finally decided what was done was done and what wasn't, oh well. No one cared because there was still quite a bit to look at.

It was kinda windy and cold in southern IN, no rain thank goodness. It rained like crazy almost all week. Stupid for machine decides to lay down and die at the beginning of the night. All in all not too bad.
