Nothing like rubbing the sleep out of your eyes to the sounds of gale force winds, after a long day yesterday getting all setup outside and getting little sleep. A number of things had to be fixed and a few things may not be able to make an appearence outside at all. Fog is all but a lost cause too. Wind gusts are up to 30 mph and it's almost constant- has been for hours now. Such a shame. And to really add insult, it's gonna rain later too. The only thing the day has going for it is unusually warm temps. It's like summer out there. Big whoop. I'd rather have it cold with no wind or rain. This year has been a weather nightmare all month. It's enough to test the patience of even the hardiest of haunters.
Damn this weather.... damn it. Thanks for absolutely nothing but a headache.

I feel youir pain.
Wind has been our issue this year. This week has been terrible. I had 75% of our haunt up, but had to take 50% back in after all the wind.
I woke up to sustained winds of 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. I don't know what the heck we are going to do. I almost feel like taking it all in and going dark this year. I could set up all up and risk losing and damaging props and decorations that hold great memories and sentiment. We already have lost 4 tombstones.
My husband thinks we should downsize the display in a major way. I know that some decorations are better than none, but I hate having a garage full of goodies and not having them displayed.
What to do...what to do?

Pumpkinprincess,
I'm with you. Although they say it is supposed to be warmer today than it has been and I thought I heard that the wind will calm down and the rain will stop. At least on the east side of the Cascades.
I heard the wind this morning but the stuff I have put out so far is still up. This afternoon I will put out the rest and hope it will be alright.A short drop and a sudden stop.

Honestly, I can almost cry. I can't really put anything outside, my Gemmy Grim Reaper prop (which ive had for about 5 years now) retired today, the wind knocked him over. Alot of other props are going into storage for next year as we speak. Not much of a scene for the TOT's.

I feel ya too! Woke up this morning to all but 3 of my tombstones scattered across the yard and everything soggy. Luckily it shouldn't rain past noon today so I should be able to set everything else up later! Hope the weather clears up and holds out at least until after TOT'ing!

I'm so sorry you guys! We have some strong winds here, too, and it looks like it's gonna rain any minute now. I don't have any outdoor props, but I feel for those of you who do.

I feel everyone's pain as well. Woke up to rain and wind. As we move into the early afternoon hours the winds have picked up to gusts of 40+ mph. I have lost 60% of the yard display, and I even secured most of the items last night. I guess I did not secure them enough. I didn't expect to have hurricane force winds all afternoon. This is rediculous.
We are debating shutting down the yard now. I can't possibly keep up with the destruction, nor have everything fixed in time. Mother Nature has won......
Good luck to everyone..
I am freakin' pissed!

Mother nature is winning alright. It so sad that instead of the forum full of good stuff, it's full of weather horror stories. My favorite new prop- the hovering ghost- just cannot make an appearance outside today. It will never hold up. No sense in having spent 30 bucks to have it outside and break. I have my fog on at the moment. What a JOKE in this wind. But I'm stubborn and that fog will flow. It's the one thing that won't blow over. A whole years wait...for this mess.
