...offer to buy extra TOT candy for my one and only neighbor to give away?

This is my burn-out year. No big haunt. Talking to my lone neighbor, I could tell he was THRILLED that I was backing off. HA! He doesn't know I'LL BE BACK! heh heh heh.

Without the attraction of my over-the-top display, the neighbor would only have about 30-40 TOTs. But I draw about 150-220, all of which hit the neighbor right after visiting my house. We are the only two houses on the street.

So, when I resume my haunt (hopefully) next year... should I buy extra treats to a make up for the crowd (and extra expense) I cause? Has anybody here ever had a similar issue?

I don't think it is your responsibility to provide decorations or candy for anyone else.

However providing candy our decorations may help your neighbor get into the Halloween spirit.

Especially if you can afford the candy and your neighbor can't.

P.S. Offering candy to a neighbor is probably one of the nicest things I have read on this forum.

Sounds like a nice idea. Being kind and thoughtful always pays off in the end.

Certainly, if it seems to put a burden on them when your haunt is running at full tilt, that would be extremely generous.

Maybe you could "Boo!" them with a gift of candy and some fun, not-to-expensive decorations before Halloween next year.

Just remember, if you buy candy for them once, it will be expected every year. Not sure I'd want to start something like that.

I thought about something when I do my display next year. Give like the first 20 kids full candy bars. But who knows doubt I'll do that.
