Have you ever had the feeling where everyone around you, save for a few, is brutally murdering your Halloween spirit? In other words, people tell you that you're a freak because you are so empathetic about Halloween or people will say you'll get beat up/arrested for doing what you do?
It seems even the government is against us, with curfews and ordinances and what not. Yet with Christmas, everyone loves Christmas, no one will speak out against Christmas, but when Halloween comes about, everyone, sans a few, decides it's the black sheep of the holidays.
Please tell me I'm not alone. Sure, people loved my decorations for the party last week (I'll post pictures as soon as I can), videos I did get positive feedback, but when it comes to scaring, I get shunned worse than the plague.

That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to escort my kid brother as a gravekeeper (A character I created named Kevin Daver, or K. Daver) and no one will stop me!

Think of how many people have NOT been negative, without saying so, they are driving by your haunt to see what's going on, several blocks away from you, a family is going out of their way to TOT at your house because it's the coolest. Remember all the comments you get on the night and that should boost your spirits.
A response to criticism is "How rude!". Some people have no manners, they were raised by idiots and giving you their negative UNsolicited opinion is just that, rude.
I can't help with curfews and ordinances; I live in an area that has neither but I'm sure those go for everything it's just at xmas you don't have many walk though gingerbread houses, lol. If there were, they'd be subject to the same laws, I'm sure.

I've been "disspirited" (ha ha!) before but not because of other people. People think I'm a little bit weird anyway. Taking Halloween out of the equation wouldn't change that. Now mind you, I don't talk H'ween with everybody. For instance, I'd never just bring the subject up with someone I know really isn't into the holiday at all.
Consider the source. I'm a grown-up and then some, 42 years old, in a very conservative suburban area but nobody has ever dissed my setup or anything like that. In fact, people seem to love it. You may have just run into people who are against it for whatever reason; people can be against anything, H'ween included.
Take heart! A huge amount of people must love H'ween or the holiday would not still be standing after 2000 years. Yes, granted with a bajillion modifications during that time, but the general feel, the scariness/creepiness, etc. is definitely still there. And TOTing is still there after, I don't know, three quarters of a century...obviously a WHOLE LOT of people love the day! You are NOT alone!

Thanks for lifting my spirits, guys. I managed to get my brother in the swing of things. I'm thinking of a matching costume for him (I decided to be a zombie mental patient, since my parents bought me some zombie makeup kit), but that's another thread.

We are a disease infecting society. We are seeping into the fabric of "so called" normal people. And we can't be stopped. Years from now you will be the pioneer of the Halloween movement in your area and you will look back with an evil smile and laugh. Everyone thinks I'm weird and you know, They are right!
"Every night will be another evil scene, like a horror dream, I want, I command you to sceam. Halloween you are my pride. Halloween not just a dream."
