"Every night to me is Halloween......"

For me, Halloween is an opportunity to get together with my friends and celebrate.
Halloween also offers a break from the responsibilities and stresses of my everyday reality.
It is the opportunity to be someone else and live life differently.. Even if it is just for one day or a couple of weeks.
And it allows me to re-experience the fun, creativity, and simplicity of childhood.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

Halloween is the one time of year that anything is possible (if you have the skills to make it or the money to purchase it)

Halloween is just my day. Most people have their "special" day, and I guess for most it's their birthday... Mine is Halloween. And it's a lot better than my mid-summer birthday.
For most people Halloween is for kids, for candy, for costumes, or like propmistress said, "being someone else and living life differently"... But for me, it's about truly celebrating myself. It's the one day of the year I can do and wear the more extravagant things I like, without being stared at like a freak or an attention seeker (because I can't say the "W" word). People still stare on Halloween, but in a good way for a change. I put on black lipstick and go out, and I get compliments like, "I love your make-up, it looks so good on you!" Would I hear that on any other day? Nope... which is why I mostly only wear lip color one day out of the year.
Halloween season is also the time of year when things I like, such as spiders and ghosts, are more widely accepted. I often call it "spider season" because I can buy lots of spider-related items that aren't available at any other time.
I take advantage of things like this by making the entire day revolve around me.

Everyone that posted above shares the same thoughts..reminds you of your childhood..lets you open up and express yourself, mainly your inner child, theres a part of you that never grows up..we are all kids at heart..
The spookyness of the holiday is just awesome, nothing like a good old fright..the haunts make it worth while, getting compliments watching the people run away or either scream and gather up the courage to come get some candy..
But its all about decorating, watching movies. listening to Thriller on TV (always playing around this time)..remembering how scary those horror movies were and now you can enjoy them lol again without hiding under the covers..

The 30th is my birthday, so growing up, Halloween merged with celebrating that.
I grew up in the seventies before the 'poison scare' and I have extremely fond memories of Trick 'r Treating. I collect Halloween stuff. I have lots of blowmolds, and decorations from the thirties and forties.
I also have a black Christmas tree I put up in October with orange and purple lights, and ornaments.
I think the nostalgia of childhood plays the biggest role in my love of Halloween.
I'll have my little brother help me post some pics of the house tonight.
Have a ghastly night all.

I guess there are several reasons why I love Halloween so much. The look on the kids faces as they come into the yard. Putting up my props and trying to come up with different themes. My inner child comes out. Dressing in costumes pretending to be anything you want to be. And its just plain fun to do.
Don't die around me if you don't wont to end up on the front lawn on HALLOWEEN

I love Halloween because it is such a great time to be a kid, and even after you are "grown up" you have permission to be a kid again. I love to decorate and listen to all the ooooohs and awwwwwwws from the TOTs. And of course I love to give people a little scare now and then LOL. Happy Halloween everyone!
