Just saw on my news that Wal-Mart now sells caskets online starting at $999. I wonder if I can buy one now and use it year after year until the day it is needed....are there rules for the condition it might be in by then?![]()

Gives new meaning to their lay away plan.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

I read the title to this thread and thought maybe a Walmart had prop caskets for sale, but low and behold I stumble across an article about their caskets.
Apparently the effort is an online deal only in competition with Costco's casket selling.

Here's the article I read -
Wal-Mart Caskets Now Available Online; 12 Months No Interest?
I'm too baffled to say anything else....somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.

I saw this on the ABC NEW this morning at 4 AM when I was draging my dead tired body out of bed getting ready for work.
They were trying not to use to many puns LOL.
But they still took a few digs at Wal-mart making customers of us not just for life; but, beyond that too. LOL

I sent a clear warning to my husband.
I do not want to be buried in a Walmart casket.
I hate shopping in Walmart, I'm a Target gal.

Ok, personally it sounds like a good deal as long as you can use it as a prop for hopefully many years. If I got one, by the time I "needed" it, it would more than likely be very aged but it wouldn't matter because I want to be cremated anyhow and they could just toss me in it as our final farewell.

They could advertise them by putting the wal-mart greeter in one. And have him pop up and say "Welcome to walmart."

I would have no problem being buried in a walmart or costco casket, heck, I would have been happy being buried in the coffin I built several years ago (furniture grade), after your in the ground, who cares if it falls apart? Besides I'm sure those caskets have to meet requirements just as any other casket sold in the US.
