Thread: "It's the Great Pumpkin, CB"

Last night we watched ITGP, CB and for the first time, my kids really "got" it...I mean they understood what was going on and they were SO into it...it was GREAT...it warmed me up and made me feel really really Halloween-ey!

Just thought I'd share. It was cold and windy and we were watching the GP and my kids were jumping all around the place saying, "Halloween! Anakin, Obi Wan" (because that's what they're going to be) and commenting..."He sad" when Snoopy cried at the music Schroeder was playing, etc.

I loved it!!! I love that this stuff still makes kids (and adults) happy. That show is more than 40 years old!!! (1966.)

HHAH im watching it now.. dl it for the kids, will have it if anyone wants it in megaupload file!!! i have the garfield one too...

I watched it, too. I have the Garfield one on DVD. I wish they'd still air that on tv....

I know how you feel. It was the first time I can remember my 9 yr old. laughing out loud at certain spots and grinning ear to ear. What a great gift Schultz gave us.

Did anyone else notice extra footage in last nights airing? I walked in the house and changed it cause i thought it was some other CB. (there was some voting/speech scenes where Linus was running for class pres or something). I have not watched it in a while but I do not remember that.

Is my memory finally starting to fade?

I was at work last night, in an office environment with access to a TV, and a half dozen of 30+ year olds (including me) were watching the Great Pumkin Charlie Brown. It was as if we were still little kids.

Gonna bust out the DVD Friday. It's a perennial for me.

That was a 2nd. show called Your Not Elected Charlie Brown. I guess they wanted to fill in an hour spot...

Wow too funny.. thanks for clarifying. I was really beginning to doubt my knowledge of the Great Pumpkin.

That's cool that your kiddos took to it early on. My daughter was a bit stubborn about it for a few years and would watch it begrudgingly. I think because I was so in to it and she was just trying to have her own opinion or something. Last year she watched it with me and seemed to enjoy it but I thought she was faking to please me. Then, last night, I yelled "Great Pumpkin is ON!" and she came scampering inside and parked it in front of the tv while hollering "YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!"
Made me chuckle.
