    It may be lost...

I've hit the "back" button to get back to a screen with a post when that happens, but if you've done stuff since then, it may be gone.

Sorry it happened. It is the super-uber scary busy time for the forum. If you have a long post to make, might be a good idea to copy the text before hitting the post button just in case.

    ouch, I feel your pain.

Periodically copy your work to the clipboard (ctrl+c) so if you do loose the webpage most of it can be saved. But I certainly understand the grief you're feelin.

Go whale on a pillow for a few then come back with a clear head.

    Ctrl /A

    Ctrl/C

That highlights and copies your text that you're posting. Do it periodically when you're really working up a long post. It's the golden rule of forum posting. Learn it, live it. Sorry you got screwed. It's happened to me too, but not any more.

Yea, that's happened to me too.
I do try to use the "copy and paste" method if I'm writing a long post.

But I know several times I've hit "Submit Thread" and the screen comes up telling me I'm not logged in. I just entered my name and password on that same page, hit "Log in" and the thread was submitted, just like I had been logged on the whole time!

What I hate is when I click on something and that little green bar fills up ever so slowly.......

Yep. This happens everywhere on the net. A web site runs on what is called "sessions". If you do not submit within sessions (normally 10-20 minutes) then you may lose what you submit as the site must log you back in. Most of the time, this is done without you having to do anthing (because of cookies).

If you have a super super long post, you may want to consider typing it outside a site such as a word processor. Or, always "cut&paste" you text into your clipboard (ctrl+A to select all then ctrl+C to copy..ctrl+V) to paste.

This is not forum specific. This is the way that 90% of the sites on the net works that collect data.

This can also more likely to happen if you use DSL, a web accelerator or wireless Internet because of the way that they connect. Sometimes the session is closed because of your Internet service provider.
