I had decided not to do a yard haunt this year. However I made a trip with some friends to a corn maze and it got me back in the spirit big time. I have cranked out a few things to add to the stuff I had already started. I am thinking of setting up next week(the week preceding Halloween) with a hopeful completion date of the day before Halloween.
I was pretty exited about a few of the things so I wanted to share some pics. My theme for the yard haunt this year is an abandoned mining town. The name of the mining town is Silva. Hopefully there will be 3 or 4 different areas of the town in various parts of the yard. One of them is a cemetery, another is an abandoned mining shack, the the third is the mine shaft and the fourth is kind of the mining equipment around the mine entrance.
This is the entrance to the Silva Mine at night. It will be at the sidewalk and will be over the path leading to the house. After passing through the entrance there will be two rooms with mining scenes that the TOT's will have to pass to get to the door to get their treats.I can't wait to get this set up out front so I can add spider webs around the doorway!
The second one is the welcome sign to the town of Silva. This will be on the corner of the two sidewalks in front of the abandoned mining shack.
I will post some more when I start setting stuff up next week. I also redid the entrance to the cemetery, but I don't have any good pics of it yet. I also redid my FCG that will be in the abandoned shack.
This is a link to a thread I started that has a lot of the previous things I had worked on.
Haunted Mine Shaft themed yard haunt ideas.....
This is a thread about my abandoned shack that will house the FCG.

This is a thread with the dynamite plunger box.

And this is a thread with the hard hats. Since that thread I have found 4 others, so now I have a total of 5. One for each of the miners in the mine shaft and one for me to wear.
Mining hard hat....
Also I decided to have my monster in a box on the main sidewalk so I can get some of the parents that don't go into the shaft (scaredy cats).I will have it placed in the scene around the mine shaft entrance among other mining equipment to disguise it a little.

I am pretty happy that I caught the Halloween bug again. Thanks to all that have helped me and given me some great tips. I will post more pics as the set up begins.

The interest is starting to pick up as far as people walking by looking into the back yard. I decided to give them a little teaser until I can get it all out in the front yard. I put out a couple of crates, a wooden wheel barrow, the Silva welcome sign, a no trespassing sign and the mining cart.
I have already had a few people stop and say stuff. So I think people have been keeping an eye on what I have been doing.
Oh and I just noticed you can see the new gate for the cemetery in the background. It has a rounded top this year.

Two little things I had happen today. First was that there is this lady that walks her dogs by my house all the time. I am always friendly with her, but she has never really ever said anything back to me. I was out working on some stuff in the back yard and she actually talked to me!!! She asked if all the stuff was for Halloween. She seemed kind of excited. Then later when she came back past she was with her husband and I over heard her telling him that all this was for Halloween.
The second thing was that I saw the lady down the street setting up her Halloween decorations. Normally she has them out a lot earlier. I stopped and told her I was excited to see her finally putting out her stuff and she told me she didn't have anyone to help her put it up until today. So the Halloween spirit is flowing in our little street!

The mineshaft looks incredible! I remember following all of your great props you were building for this (loved the miner's hat) and seeing it all-together has gotten me into the spirit too. Looks like you've got a great haunt in the works there.
