Hallow - and I guess it's my turn to vent a bit. Our pup woke up this morning with one of her little ears ready to pop! Her entire ear was swollen the size of a baseball! I called the vet immediately and turns out she has a blood clot and requires $800. worth of surgery asap! It was that or euthanasia. . .

I was a puddle all afternoon. Now I am at home with her and the medicine bottles while MysterE is at a special event tonight without me. I just couldn't go and leave little Sandy alone.

Plus tomorrow night, we have plans to visit Bozz's Backyard Haunted Trail up in Dayton. I'll be worried all night about leaving our pooch alone. But I have been looking forward to the Bozz Bog party for weeks! Being a party host - I haven't been a guest at a Halloween party in 25 years! I just don't want to miss it.

The first opening for the vet surgery is - guess when... October 30/31! So next Friday, when I should be scrambling to get the food and final decor ready for 200 guests -- I will be wringing my hands (and the savings account) while our little pup is under the knife. (Oh - and my teenage actors had to cancel this year!)

A silver lining - Our pup has to stay overnight. So I won't be trying to monitor her recovery, watching the stiches and administering meds all night.

So there you have it. I know I'm whining - but where else could I find fiends who understand but on HF? Life never stands still - not even for All Hallows Eve.
    Boo hoo hoooo

Bless your heart! And poor puppy-boo. Good luck with everything, I hope you find a sitter for your pup tomorrow night, you sound like you need a night out.

Oh dear......best wishes for a speedy recovery for Sandy. Do you have a neighbor or one of those "teenage actors that backed out" that might be able to coddle her while you are out? You should go to Bozz's for sure! Even if you have to put her in a little blanket nest with some goodies - she should be okay for a few hours. Here's hoping for the best for you all!

Geeze...poor puppy! I've had dogs get that ear swell thing and the vet just told us it was a hematoma(sp?) and some pop on their own or he could operate and maybe the ear would return to normal...that didn't happen, they just kind of crinkle up. IN any case it was only $250 for the surgery!
Hope the puppy is doing well

Oh poor little guy, I would say if push came to shove to just bring him up tonight,we had a few dog's on the trail but they don't respond well to foggers and high pitch noises and without giving too much away we have a prop or two that he may not like due to the sound alone but we can tone them down if need be.*********************************************** ************************* I feel some of your pain. We lost 3 actors for tonight so I may have to jump in somewhere, I pretty scary without a mask .....ha...ha.We'll have at least 3 of our best actors here but with this new trail expansion its all new and experimental trying to see which hiding locations work best. I guess thats why its call a dry-run dress rehearsal party.....we'll have kinks to work out and some bugs in the systems. So far so good but my Kicking Legs stopped working on me and some of props are Photo-cell sensor triggers (needs more light to trip and iffy in the dark) instead of PIR's (passive infra red which tiggers due to a warm body nearby day or night). None the less it'll all be fun and entertaining. Susie if you all are up for it and don't mind we would like you to walk the trail a few times (its not that long) and we will relocate our actors each time in new spots and you guys can give us feedback on what worked best or what was your favorite set. It would help us so much plus it would be like a new trail for you on every walk. We currently have more good hiding places than actors so we'll look for the best spots with your help. Find us if you can...hee...hee, because if you dont we'll find you.....hoooaaahhaaaaa !................................................. .................................................. .*** You got 200 folks coming next weekend......WOW ! Can' even imagine that one....oh well maybe I can we'll have about 300 take our walk. I already seen a few folks with our flyers checking things out from the street......Oh and the doorbell rang last night and a person I gave a flyer to had two cute kids in costumes wanting to go down, she had mistaken and thought our party was last night.....ha. Should be back tonight. Sorry HSB didn't mean to hi-jack your thread. We are really excited to see you guys.....its a very small party which works best for trail fun. .................................................. .Last Halloween the traffic flow was so big at times that I counted one group of 38 folks back to back on the trail......so we could not do anything with them.....we just waved....lol.Ok anuff hi-jacking, let us know if you get in a bind tonight with a pup sitter, bring him if you have too and we'll make adjustments . SEE YA SOON !!!!!!!

Oh I'm so sorry. Funny enough we had to take our 1 year old doxie to vet on Thursday because he kept scratching at his ear. I told hubby if we wait it will get worse. He has an ear infection. Vet was amazed we even knew because the infection was just starting. Thank goodness I listened to my gut and took him right in.

I hope your little girl is one the mend quickly with no complications.

Well I'll have you all to know HSB wrote me back to tell me she is more than willing to be our Trail Guinea Pig. We'll have a few nice groups tonight. But because Susie is such a good sport we are saving the best for her. I'm sure we'll do a review on it sometime Sunday here. Wish us well.........
