So I'm really starting to get paranoid about the weather tomorrow. Supposedly, there are supposed to be thunderstorms tonight into tomorrow with a lot of wind. Tomorrow night is our party. I'm thinking worse case scenario if we lose power during the party of things to do - have candles ready in various areas, get a boombox (running on batteries) that can connect to an iPod, anything else? Unfortunately, our oven is electric so I hope to God if it does happen that it'll happen after I've cooked all the food.

Maybe you could modify a recipe or two, use the grill. Personally, I think a stormy night and no electricity sound awesome. Instant atmosphere. Good luck with your party.

OH that sounds like the PERFECT scene for halloween. I actually put tape over the light switches so that no one can turn them on. Candles and battery lighted effects light the entire place. Laptops for the music have to run on batteries so to keep the cables out of the way from people tripping on them. Food is done ahead of time unless it's on the BBQ, because otherwise nosy-nellies get in my kitchen and tick me off! So, for the most part.....no power would be just fine and dandy! Best of luck! Stormy parties are the best parties, actually!

Oh, you guys are great!!!! I totally forgot that I could connect the iPod to my laptop and play the music from there!!!! I was trying to connect it to an old boombox as my portable speakers don't take batteries.
Rain is coming down like crazy now.

Sounds fun!
You could always set out a Ouija board for if the power does go out. Personally, I refrain from using them - bad experience. But you could try it! And good luck!

I accidentally blew the whole breaker box for the entire house last year with one of my props. The power went out in the yard haunt and the entire house with all our guests inside. It was a very Tim Allen, Home Improvement type moment.
Luckily all it took was a single flip of the main breaker switch and everything was back to normal(well besides the prop that triggered the whole mess). But, it would have been kind of interesting to have the rest of the night in darkness.

Okay, so we lucked out - although the weather was torrential, we didn't have a power outage. Phew!!!! Thanks for all the tips!
