Yeah right! I call them blisters because they always show up when the work is done!
It happens every year. I spend 2 months and hundreds of dollars and nobody offers to help. Either hands on or financially.
However about 3 days before Halloween here they come! Oh they have all kinds of great ideas and advice and want to know if they can hang out (see enjoy all your hard work) at this point! Then they stay at my house all night just yuckin it up and enjoying themselves... Really P$#@! me off...
I mean at least buy a few bags of candy to help me out with that cost!!![]()

Well, how about when they ask if they can hang out, tell them of course they can and then tell them what you would like them to bring. They'll either bring what you need and your problem is solved or they'll decide not to come at all. Either way, you get what you want!

HA! I have a couple of neighbors that do the same thing. After I have been struggling and building and painting and lifting and moving . . . that's when they come by and say, "hey, I'd love to help out - just let me know".
AARRGGHH!!
I'm actually writing down names and phone numbers this year so that next year and can have a "halloween phone tree" at the ready come October 1st.

My neighbors have been griping because I didn't set up anything this year. I don't mind them coming over but they NEVER decorate their yard and most times don't even stay home to pass out candy to the toters. I am sick of being the only one who does anything on my street!!!!!

Do you supply beer? Do they bring more? When that happens we start drinking then I ask "where were you last week?". They get the hint.

My one neighbor is great. He's come over a couple times while I'm out in the yard setting things up and helps. He got carried away with the Fog Chiller issues and even ran out and bought a bunch of stuff in attempts to make it better. The others... Well we are the ONLY house on the street decorated so they all SUCK.

I don't set up early enough for it to be much of an issue, but I do get "Help" from the neighborhood kids, which can really be annoying when I'm trying to get something done. But, I've made a real concerted effort to always stop what I'm doing and find the SOMETHING they can work on. On one hand, I'm training future haunters. On the other, it only encourages them to come over MORE, and I become a baby-sitter.
There is this one guy that comes over on Halloween every year. I have NO IDEA who it is. They're always in an expensive reacher outfit, and they just hang out around the house chasing kids. People think I plan it, but no clue...(he is rarely fitting to the theme, either, but that's a whole other story)
