Dang vandals hit me last night and stole my cheapo store bought ground breaker that you can buy at Walgreens for $10. I had just moved the fence so you could see her and this mornining she is gone. I have an idea who did it, last night some cheesy guy knocked on my door and started telling me how great my yard looked and blah, blah, blah and oh by the way we are doing carpet cleaning demonstrations in your neighborhood. He had a piece of paper in a crappy sheet protector as his sales brochure. Well, I told him we had mostly tile and would not need a demonstration. It was already dark and I wanted him out of there. So later, after 9pm I walked one dog and saw him parked by our little playground with his shirt out talking loudly to someone else in the Suburban they were driving. Then when I walked the second shift of dogs, I saw them again in front of another house. I tried to remember the license plate, because it just didn't look right. I think they were casing the neighborhood for more expensive booty and decided to take a souvenir from me as they were leaving. Well, of course I forgot the plate number.....b@stids!

That sucks. It does sound odd, the way they were hanging around.

I would have been on my guard after that but it's too late now sadly. Once again someone else gets done over and soon enough hardly anyone will put out before the 31st

I would have called the police as soon as I saw them hanging around the neighborhood(probably when they knocked on my door after dark). We live next to a soccer park and if there are any people parked there after dark we call the police. We do this only because the park next to the field was a huge hangout for the kids after dark. We watched one kid set the slides on fire, we watched 13 year olds go there to drink at 2 in the morning, we've also seen a ton of vandalism there. If people are hanging out there after dark it's for no good reason.

So sorry this happened to you.

ARGH! I hate that! Bad people SUCK!

Call the police anyways and give them as much information as you can...maybe they have hit someone else in your neighborhood who remembered the other half of his license plate and the police can put it together with what you remember and catch this looooooser!

It doesn't matter how much your cheapo store bought ground breaker cost...it was YOURS. Call and report them even if you don't remember the plate number...you saw him and the vehicle...report him. He may be doing worse things...or stealing bigger items from other people...

I am sorry. But if I may, you are lucky that's all they did. Those "carpet cleaning" and "house cleaning" people in white unmarked cars frequent our cities and usually end up stealing you blind. So while I am sorry your ground breaker got stolen, I am glad that nothing else happened.

Well oddly enough with the Recession the carpet cleaning business has taken a serious hit. A lot of companies that were getting their carpets cleaned once a week now do it once a month and a lot of small business guys are pretty much ****-outta-luck.

It makes sense to me that a guy would be going door to door asking for work (especially if he. or his company, had done one of your neighbors houses) After dark does seem late, but you know hard times make people stretch themselves.

I don't see any reason why an adult (let alone a bugler) would have use for a Halloween decoration. My guess would be its local kids in the area who grabbed it or if you have an Colleges in the area often FRAT houses will have pledges go around and steal Halloween decorations for thier Frat Halloween Parties.

It still a **** thing to happen, sorry to hear about it.
