I have been seeing tons of posts of haunts being considered in contests and the paper and thought we could start a thread on it.
That way we can see some of the yards and also wondering if AFTER the news hits what happens on Halloween? Have any of you fellow members had an increase in traffic of TOTs? Cant wait to see the responses.

Last year we were in both the newspaper and tv. This was our first year here and I didn't know what to expect.

I got tons of TOTers. My husband and I guess between 300-400. It was very overwhelming at times.

Since it was our first year it is hard to determine how the media coverage affected our turnout.

Good luck to everyone with the contests!

I have had lots of people that come to the house ask why I am not on T.V. or in the paper and my reply is simple, I don't need any more TOT's. I do it for the kids in the neighborhood. Put it in the paper or on T.V. and there would be way too many people showing up.

Our haunt was in our HOA newsletter and is going in to be in a free community paper was well. I'm talking to a TV station but I don't know what will come out of it. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the turnout compared to last year.

My point exactly, it was a mixed blessing. Yes, I like the recognition, but we were diving into my kid's bags to fill the TOT chest (pirate theme last year).

We actually started shutting down earliy.

We are trying to keep a low profile this year. I put the cemetery up late and most of the lighting and props will go up Halloween day.

I have a light o rama system with a talking pumpkin choir, etc and really wanted to make it a month long event, but I was worried about increasing the turnout even more.

We were on our local DC Fox news station last year, prior to Halloween, for a story about the economy and holiday spending.

We've been featured in two different local papers for the past two years (after contacting them about the event).

This year, our HOA put a mention in the September newsletter. I'll be happy if the media shows up again, but I'm not reaching out this year. Word-of-mouth has spread enough to give a great turn out.
