I told them it was a surprise and they would not be disapointed they we excited and told me they would be there halloween night. It is so nice to get aproched like this it happens abit I am happy that we make halloween extra fun for the kids. This is stuff they remember when they get older!!!

Cool story! I agree, one of the best things about Halloween is the people who look forward to visiting your home every year.

those kids are why we do what we do. It is for the TOTs but I think in the dungons of our hearts we get a special feeling from doing all this crazy haunting.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

Great story, and well said by all. It is always so much hard work, and keep running into frustrating problems, but i love it soooo much. I work harder through september and october than any other time in my life, all for that one magical night. I get asked quite frequently from other people when they see all the work i put into my party and my yard display, is it worth it? And everytime i look around at all the magic and slowly smile and i reply...YES...yes it is, and start planning and working hard for the next year.
EVERY DAY TO ME IS HALLOWEEN!

Nothing is better to hear than the 'Scream-laugh' followed by constant giggling and laughing. They love it and so do I.

I am getting a lot of people stopping to tell me how much they love what we do every year. They ask why I put so much work into the house and my answer is the following:

"There is no currency of greater worth than the ability to put a smile on a child's face."

I had been working on my witches shack and witch all day. Finally got it up and was sitting on the back porch cooling down. A young neighbor girl was on her bike at the edge of my yard looking at what I had done so far. I said " hello Emily, do you like the decorations? Emily is seven years old. She about came out of her skin. I guess she didn't see me sitting there. I then took her on a tour of the yard and front porch. She proceeded to tell me which props scared her the most. Of all things, a blucky with a wig and a prom dress. Made me feel good that she enjoyed my efforts. And I got my first scare of the season. Life is good.

Even tho we got all our decorations out extra early this year, lawn mowers got in the way (Jerry's new business) so the boxes just sat. I was getting pretty worried but we got some stuff done here & there. NOW WE ARE HYSTERICAL! Cause we are pretty behind. Today sitting outside working on stuff & putting it up I got that 1st feeling when cars kept slowing down in front of the house to see what we were doing. Ya know I really needed that!

We're not doing up our house this year because my sister-in-law asked that I haunt her house, inside and out, for a party she's having. So all our stuff is heading that way. It's the first time someone's trusted me to do a good job and I don't want to disappoint. It's a guaranteed audience of over 100, so I will start this weekend. I absolutely LOVE doing this!

I love hearing the compliments and having people come back every year asking what is new. The kids always remember my costumes too. I was out doing yard work one summer and two girls on bikes came up and started talking to me about the year I was Little Dead Riding Hood. Still makes me smile.
