I know we're all in the throws of Halloween and frantically trying to get everything done; late nights, lack of sleep, hanging out on Halloween Forum, etc.. but the last thing any of us need is to come down with the flu or worse the swine flu. I work in a hospital and we are deluged with sick people who have flu symptoms. There have been 7 cases of confirmed H1N1 at my son's school, and more at three local colleges. Take time to eat right, wash your hands, stay away from anyone who is sick, and be sure to get ample rest, even though it's hard for many of us this time of year. A lowered resisitance is a risk factor. It would really be sad to read threads the day after Halloween from members who had to cancel due to ill health, so everyone stay healthy so you can enjoy the big night!
We now retun to our regularly scheduled madness!

I reached my exhaustion point last Sunday. I was so tired and I thought I was getting something. I relaxed on Sunday and spent the better part of Monday sleeping. Got up on Tuesday and I felt totally recharged. I never realized when you're first starting out doing the decorating and the creating how it could turn into a third job. I love doing all of this but I have to learn to slow down.
We also had a swine flu scare at my daughter's school. The closed the school down on a Friday and the kids were off Monday for the holiday. Thank goodness she didn't get anything. I did tell my husband and daughter if they get sick the day before Halloween they will become a part of the display....lol
It is important to remember to take care of yourself and absolutely to get your sleep. Thank You for the reminder."Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says,"Oh Crap, She's up!"

I've got a doctor's appointment on Tuesday due to a horrible ear infection, running around trying to get stuff for our party next weekend and complete the setup inside and out, and just discovered a leak in our main bathroom sink and even with all of this and running out of time... the hubby and I decided that we were exhausted and took a LONG nap this afternoon.

I am NOT going to get sick... I am just going to keep repeating that and do my best not to overextend myself and eat my veggies and all that good stuff.

I have gotten sick. A simple cold thankfully. I live with a huge box of tissues and a large bottle of handsanitizer in reach for the few times I absolutely have to leave my bed. It's no fun folks.

Great advice but as you mentioned it is very hard to stick to with such hectic build deadlines coupled with the regular day to day stress. It never fails I contract some form of flu, bronchitis or sinus infection when the seasons change. Thankfully I already had my fight with the seasonal sickness a couple weeks ago (or maybe a week ago, I can't recall). As a matter of fact the entire family came down at the same time and we all have recovered so life is much better.
Probably the biggest thing I can think of is for those of us in normally warmer climates who are getting hit with some colder than normal weather than usual for this time of year is to make sure you dress warmer when outside working on the props and setting up. It may seem like common sense but if your clothes get wet make sure you change them as soon as possible. Walking around outside in wet clothes in cold weather never does much for your immune system cause all your body's focus is on staying warm, not keeping the germs at bay.
Good luck and good health to all!
