I was just wondering what your first Halloween experience that you remember was. Pics would of course be great. I do not have my first pic but I do remember my sister dressing me up as a scarecrow. Then I do remember she drove me around town trick or treating and I remember how freaking scary a couple of the yards were. I loved it and have been a major fan since then.

    Anyways have fun!!

There is a certain magic that surrounds Hallowe'en Night. And those of us who are awake to that have the opportunity to create life-long memories for the neighborhood kids. That's why we go to such extremes, I guess.

The first time that I remember trick-or-treating was when I was maybe five or six, which makes it around 1960. I wore a Snow White costume. With my winter coat over it - in southwestern Pennsylvania we usually ended up fighting with Mom over our costumes, warmth vs authenticity. I probably only went to the houses on our block. It was definitely dark, after supper. Spooky, but very exciting. And full-size candy bars.
I also remember the town Halloween parade, with a marching band and firetruck and floats and costumes, best parade in the tri-state area. At least, that's how I remember it.

Thanks for sharing that. Now that you shared yours I do recall that it was also late at night after dinner and I actually remember that I did not get the idea at first. I thought I was supposed to be a scarecrow so I went and stood outside in the yard "being a scarecrow". I think I was four or five. I do remember my sister explaining it to me then and then I went trick or treating.

There was just this magic in the air that night. I have loved the day ever since.

The first and most memorable Halloween memory I have is being a Christmas tree complete with blinking lights.... that was probably in the late 60's or early 70's. I hated it. It turns out I am claustrophobic... lol. I never wear masks.

This is my youngest's first Halloween he was Yoda and my older daughter was Darth Vader. Lil Yoda there is now almost 13.

The school had some carnival/Halloween event and I was supposed to be the gypsy telling fortunes. I remember I was in a tent thing and I had the coolest costume with coins. Oh, and I was able to wear makeup! I think I was in 1st grade or something.

I was in the first grade and got to dress like Zorro. Makes me sick to think of how long ago that was. 1959. There was a railroad track down the road from our house and the adults would tell us kids that on Halloween night, the headless horseman would ride along the tracks looking for his head. Sounds corny now but back then it was pretty scary stuff. I loved it!

I vaguely remember dressing up as a witch when I was very small. It was probably around 1968 maybe? It was one of those costumes that came in the box with the plastic mask and the costume that looked something like a hospital gown with a design printed on the front.
I remember another year, don't know if it was later or earlier, but I was dressed up as a red devil and taken to the Halloween party at the Baptist church! Oddly enough, know one thought a thing about it. It must have been before they realized they were celebrating satan's holiday and changed the whole thing to a fall festival.

I think the adults must have used the tracks everywhere to scare kids. I know in my town the tracks happened to be where the "satanists" lived when we were kids. LOL I was so afraid to go near it.

I wish they had not started doing the fall festival thing. I mean it was much more fun when it was just Halloween. I know I would never have wanted to spend my Halloween in a church as a kid.
