So gratifying to see stuff made in this country. I was looking for some jute netting today and while at Spirit they had a rack of it. Same stuff/same price but two different bags and lo and behold, one of them was made in America. The other was from India. Bought two bags. Also looking at costumes, particularly long capes and saw at least three styles made here as opposed to China. The nicest one was a velvet material with a hood and was made here. Please check the packaging and shop around a bit. While the vast majority of Halloween stuff is imported, there are Amercian made products available. Felt good to buy American!

I second this. Always buy American if you can, and if its not available....buy Canadian!

I third this. If I find something made in America over something made in China or elsewhere I will. Speaking of imported things, has anyone else seen reports of the drywall from China that was used to build houses in the early 2000s? - the chemicals in their drywall has corroded people's electrical wires, pipes, etc. And now people are being dropped by their homeowners insurance company because of it.

I've been trying harder to look for products made here in North America too, too many recalls, poor quality products, dangerous products ect coming in from countries that are not regulated as well as Canada and the US.
I knew about the drywall, it's sad the insurance is dropping them instead of covering them to put in new stuff. You know, I've always wanted a child....ON TOAST!-Winifred, Hocus Pocus

This would be a great place to list specific items you know are made in the USA, or links to websites.
Because retailers are always trying to come out with new things, manufacturers are copying more expensive props and having them made overseas so they can sell them cheaply. Not only are we losing jobs, I bet we're buying a lot of things with lead in the paint.Last edited by Screaming Demons; 10-15-2009 at 10:19 PM. Reason: typo

Most of the Halloween stuff we get over here is from china, always cheap and tacky looking. Although one of my most important Halloween tools is made in the U.S.A ..my glue gun, works like a charm
