Well it's official, Wal-Mart does not care about being "Your place to shop for Halloween." Last week we received the LAST shipment of freight for Halloween. 4 boxes, 3 of which were small child monkey outfits. But we have received a lot of Christmas boxes in. That and the fact that Wal-Mart has absolutely crap for merchandise this Halloween.

I live in NM, and in a very isolated area. The Wal mart in Las Cruces has tons of costumes but no props. I have seen on this board that Walmarts across the country have really cut back and everyoneone is disappointed.
Lo and behold, yesterday we went to a Walmart in Alamogordo, and they had props! They had glitter skulls and skeketons in black and silver, as well as natural. They had creepy cloth for $3, hanging ghosts for $10 , led tombstones for $14, purple, orange, and clear string lights for $3.99-$5.99!
I was amazed. The large glitter skulls were very nice and only $4 each. I got a cardboard black glitter candelabra that was $4.
I woulda took pics, but I am old and I don't have good pic posting skills.
    Go figure.

Yeah, I'd pretty much already figured that one out. All I can say is, our wm is going to be stuck with a truck load of giant plastic bowls and blue and purple trick or treat pumpkins...

Are they even carrying props this year? All I saw when I went there about three weeks ago were masks, costumes, and candy. Not even a single foam tombstone was out...(almost sounds like a Halloween version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas', doesn't it?)

Off topic, but could topic person please say your username backwards?
"Dollar Tree - The High Price to Pay for $1 Prices" China stuff, taking out other stores, around every corner - 136 in 100 miles, poor wages for employees. - I only say this because people say the same stuff about Wal-Mart, but than they go to Dollar Tree.

I have to go there because its the only place I know around town that I can get cans of spray paint for $1. Makes me angry walking by! I hope they do horrible sales on their costumes. In my mind, props are not only there for sale, but as decorations. Get people in the mood then they will buy a costume.

Michaels hands down out did everyone in my area, they have a sign on the front of the store that says Halloween Headquarters and I thought No poop!
With regards to Walmart I spoke with the home office and they are stating that Dept 18 in recent years has too much left over when it comes to Halloween merchandise and have to clearance too much of it. I personally find that hard to believe but I don't have access to the data, so I take their word for it and am disappointed to say the least. I will try Target and see what they have.

Walmart for Halloween shopping is as futile as trying to set alight a bucket of water.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.
