It's a straightforward question, but I think it has several possible answers. Basically, I'm looking for a way to attach some tombstones to the wall in my short little hallway and am looking for a way to do it without messing the walls up. Also, any ideas on how to get a pair of the skeleton hands to come out of the wall would be appreciated.

I have to laugh, because even with all my planning, about 15 minutes before my halloween party started last year, I went around with my staple gun to fix everything that had fallen down off of the walls before the guests arrived.

I would try getting ahold of gaffer's tape. Its stronger than painter's tape, but still comes off clean. Gaffers Tape - Goodbuyguys.com

Finishing nails and afterwards I take a tube of caulk and fill in the holes (if they are obvious) and I have a small jar of wall paint color that I dab onto that.

If you already have white walls, you probably could get away with just caulk - but my walls are yellow so it would show up if I didn't paint.

I love not having to worry about stuff falling down. It's worth the little extra trouble fixing it afterwards.

I have plaster walls and won't risk nails, I exclusively use 3M hooks and they've been great. I scoop them up at Michael's with my 40% off coupons and stockpile in the "off season".

I recently hung some 3D letters for this year, I found self-stick clear tabs (called EZ hang ups) with a hole to slap on the back, then hung them all on 3M hooks - talked about it on my blog here:

I have been thinking of the same thing Changed. I would really like to affix a few of those hanging spider cocoons to my bathroom ceiling though. My hubby will be none too impressed if I started putting holes into the ceiling.

Do you think those 3M adhesives would work on a ceiling as well? If not any other gravity-defying suggestions??

They work on my flat ceiling just fine - I usually tie the string or whatever to the hook first, so it stays on (since they are hooks), then affix.
Or you can probably buy another shape that is a solid loop - maybe the ones meant for organizing cords, they're sort of like a tube.

Have you tried push pins? (office supply stores, and dollar stores) Around here we can get them in a couple of sizes and they seem to hold well. I use the bigger ones for things that are heavy and the smaller ones for light weight stuff. I haven't had many problems with them not holding and have used them in the ceiling also. The leave such a small hole that you don't even see it, no damage to repair!
