This year has been rough with me due to bills and hours I'm receiving at Walmart. I'm using the props what I had last year and changing them around. Instead of using my props to be the center of the haunt, I'm using candles for the windows. I want my house to look like a witch house. To add to the effect, I'm burning incense.

I'm dressing up as a gypsy this year, I bought the costume off of Spirit Halloween.com

Outside my house I'm setting up a table and doing Tarot cards and palm readings for free. =) I've been studying both for about 2 years now. I'm very spiritual this year and I'm adding it to my little haunt I have.

I'll be adding pictures in a week or two. =] Aside from what I'm using all the music people has given me from this site. So I'm sure I'll be getting a lot of mixed feelings from different people who enter my house or come on Halloween.

Even though I have very little to spend this year on Halloween for props I take the best of what I have and add more ideas as days go by. If anyone else has any other items, be sure to let me know. =]

Lighting really is an under-rated effect. Candles with a dimly lit room are ALWAYS going to be atmospheric, and it's so easy to tip it right into creepy with a few props.

Sounds like you are doing a great setup on a shoestring budget.

I feel your pain! My motto this year also is to use what I already have....unfortunately I'm finding my liquid latex has jelled; glow in the dark paint has dried; and even my detailing paint brushes have become brittle and broken. I am , however, finding a lot more free stuff this year and I'm bound and determined to use that blob of latex....maybe I can mold a bucky's ear???

Making do with what you got?

That's old school, yes indeed. Halloween is always best when it's filled with homemade horrors and handcrafted creepies.
Make yourself some witch jars for light and maybe a couple potion bottles - there are a ton of potion ideas here, in Props and the Craft section.

    Carry on, Sister.

I totally understand how you feel. Though it sounds like you know exactly how to handle the situation! It sounds like your party will be great, and prove to people that you don't have to splash the cash to have a successful event! Well done to you!

I love that idea! I'll have at least 2 mediums at my house that night including me so I may do the same
