Has anyone else noticed that the price of black plastic has practically doubled over the last couple of years? We usually buy the 10' x 25' rolls at Walmart, but this year, they're like $9 or $10 a roll! It's almost cheaper to buy black fabric. I've even started looking at the rolls of weed-guard at Lowes...

I completely agree. Black plastic pricing has has definitely gotten a bit out of hand. Hubs and I are going with the black weed block fabric this year instead.

hhmm, I wonder if other times during the year, it's less? Think they mark it up this time a year?

black plastic is a petroleum product. The price of gas and oil goes up so does the price of anything petroleum based.

Is weed cloth actually cheaper than black plastic?

I'm using the black sheeting from Lowes for my walls this year. It was right around $60 for a 10' x 100' roll of the 6 mil plastic. Very heavy duty stuff.

I agree- i need 36' of the stuff. How thick is the stuff @ walmart? And will weed fabric block out all daylight? I have daylight trick or treat and am enclosing the porch.

If anyone wants to split a lowe's roll of 10'x100' 6 mil for half the cost let me know. I'm even willing to drive a decent distance to meet you... i'm in north east ohio.

And the thing about petroleum prices... the prices have gone back DOWN... so why the increase still? it's like fuel surcharges for shipping stuff... we're still paying them. WTF?
