So it's September which means that some Theme parks will soon open up nightly halloween themed versions of their parks.

In Florida, the two that I know of are Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and Howl-o-Scream at Busch Gardens.

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is movie themed this year. Most Saw, Chucky and The Wofman.

Howl-O-Scream (HOS) is Vampire themed, which just happens to be my favorite Halloween related creature so of course this makes me want to go so much more!

I really want to go to both and have found deals for both (UPC codes and being a Florida resident) and can go to HOS for $9.99 or go to HHN for $67 (which includes a hotel room which is needed because there is no way I can drive home that same night. I can from Busch Gardens because it's much closer). OR I could go to both for only $77. Amazing, right?

I just need to get my poor college kid friends to save up their money because there is no way I can pass up that kind of deal. Plus, I've never been to one and how could a Halloween junkie not go when both are quite close?

Is anyone else planning or hoping to go to one of these Theme Parks?
Is there a theme Park around you that is doing something too? What is it? Have you ever been to one? What's it like?

Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGA) does one called Fright Fest here in New Jersey every year. It's pretty cool. Decorations and actors dress up as the living dead to haunt the park. I used to work at SFGA ages ago, so it's been a long time for me. I hope to go this year.

Can you try the cheap one first? HOS is only $9.99?? Get a taste there and maybe your friends will be pumped to go for the other one too.

(I say, get in as much as you can! Halloween only comes but once a year )

While there really isn't anything up here in MT, I am hoping to take a trip the week of Halloween to Los Angeles. Although the week days will be spent working hard on my research project (if all goes right), I hope to at least hit Knott's Scary Farm's Halloween Haunt. It has been seven years since I've been, which is hard to believe as my Mom and I made it an annual tradition every year since I was seven or eight years old (yes, I started early). I'd also like to go to Universal Hollywood's Horror Nights; and while not a haunting park, I would also really like to go to Disneyland while they still have their Halloween decorations up and hopefully visit the beloved Haunted Mansion Holiday. The bummer to all of this is that I don't really have anyone to go with, but it should still be fun.

I would be tempted to go to San Diego if Sea World was still doing a haunt event with mazes and such, but it seems they only do a kiddie thing now. The Star of India would be great to visit too if they are still doing their ghostly tours of the ship, but I don't think I can set aside the time to travel just for that. I suppose I just want a really good excuse for going "home." There's so much that I miss from down there...

We go to Orlando every year in October. Universal is a must-do (adults only), but we also love Disney's Not so Scary Halloween party. That's our favorite and gets us in the mood for our big push to decorate.

Hey Hallowteen - If you don't mind me asking....where are you getting a $9.99 offer for HOS? I just checked out their site and the lowest I see for Florida Residents is $29 for the preview nights and $39 for the actual season (per night). Just curious.....cause that's a sweet deal!

Kings Island Fearfest in Cincinnati, OH is the best I've been to, way better than Six Flags.
Go to Ebay and get tickets around $20+, Trust me you would love it! Just a word of warning, you may want to call first and see what "special events" they have in October.

I've done Cedar Point's Halloweekends for the past three years now... they do a really good job.

During the day, there are multiple haunted houses throughout the park, all of the music in the park is halloween themed, they have decorations everywhere. They also have a few parades.

at night, they play old-school horror movies on a football field sized screen, there is a band that plays live horror rock at the main stage, but the coolest part is their fright zones...
at 8:00, there are specific parts of the park where they release their ghouls and they chase you around... it's really great!

I'm going again this year, and I am pumped!
