So, last night I mentioned to my wife that our Spirit store was opening up today. Well, she calls me up this morning and starts the call with "If I promise you can go to Spirit tomorrow, can you do me a favor?" What a thing to have held over your head.

    Pfft!

'If I promise you can go'?

"Honey, I'll let you know when I go to Spirit. I'll also gladly do you a favor, because I want to do that, too."

My wife and I get clearance from each other on financal expenses, but I don't need permission to visit a store. Neither does she.

Now if your wife had said "If I promise you can spend $300 of our money at Spirit tomorrow...", that would be closer to the sorts of conversations we have.

The two go hand and hand at my house. If I say I'm going to a store, it means I'm spending money.

Actually, I was planning on going during my lunch hour today, and her errand is actually getting the kids from point A to point B. Not a big deal, but she knows me well enough to use Spirit as a "Bribe." Now what I spend while Im there.............

I agree but we go one step further, our money is our own too. He pays half the bills, I pay half. We have seperate checking accounts. you blow all your money on fun stuff, don't come crying to me! LOL We been married 19 years, and it's been that way since day one. Only rule we made along the way was, if it was an expenditure over $500, we were to consult the other person. That's why I buy my Halloween items in $100 increments!!
