What age group are you targeting? These ads will attract the brave adults and teenagers. But if you are also looking to include the whole family I would go with the first one and add something like "Fun for all ages".

I like the first one.
The second one just makes me think of a dentist.
I'd probably put the "Haunted House" centered and with either a thin border of color around the lettering, or put a color box behind it framing the words... it's getting a bit lost with the background image.
Really like it, tho!I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I agree, the first one appeals to me more, not sure why..maybe because it's a darker background with white letters?

my vote goes to the first one as well I LOVE IT!! I like the 2nd one but it makes me think of the Saw movies.. unless of course your haunt is themed that way then my vote goes to the second one. lol

The first one looks good. The word "Haunted" does fade into the background so perhaps adding an outer shadow/glow effect to the text might help make it easier to read. The second one reminds me more of album cover than a haunted house, but it's still decent. And yeah, I too think you should add whether it's all ages or not.
