So we bought one of those giant $50 (got it half price!) pumpkins from Michaels. It SOUNDED hollow when we bought it, and figured if we had to do a little extra work, no big deal...
Well we found out last night that it was in fact a completely SOLID pumpkin, and decided to hollow it out... or I should say my roommate decided he was going to hollow it out!
It turned out really good, but made a HUGE mess... But now we have a giant pumpkin head for our giant scarecrow!!
I'll post up pictures of it later tonight!

We had that happen a few years ago when, at the last minute, my daughter wanted to carve pumpkins at her Halloween party but didn't want the mess of real pumkins. She got the fake ones on sale at either Target or WalMart, thinking they were hollow. Big surpise at her party when everyone TRIED to cut into their solid styrofoam pumpkins! Ended up making a bigger mess than the real ones!
I'm surprised about the Michaels pumpkins though. I thought they were all carvable.Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

The big ones they have out right now are solid but when they get the funkins in, those are hollow.
