Thread: Question around UK Merchandise Watch 2009

Would anyone object if I created a Merchandise Watch UK 2009? The problem is you guys in the USA & Canada have so much cool stuff, but we don't have Walmart, etc. i'll still drop into the Merchandise 2009 watch, because so much stuff can be bought online & sent internationally, any objections? Is this the right place to ask this question? Thanks for your help.

Doubt anyone would mind this thread and I'm sure those in the UK would appreciate it a lot. I guess the thread is created. Personally I love to see pics of stuff available elsewhere. Sometimes make you envious that you can't buy it locally but even when you don't live nearby they're a great source of inspiration. I usually have a tendency to think that Halloween is a USA holiday and find it interesting to see how the rest of the world celebrates it.

sounds good to me!! Shall report... although generally I find, Large Asda's (who are owned by Walmart) and random £1 shops tend to be the best places for cheap, cool props and decorations....

would be great if we could get it stickied!

Yeah, that's not a problem at all. We had one last year, so bring on this years merchandise watch!

The £1 shops are great for the odd bits; I got my paper plates and napkins set from one last year! Awesome!
The box of candy pictured was from there too, but the only good thing about them was the box!!

Asda did have some pretty good stuff in last year, though it hasn't really been very good in the past.

After all, us guys from overseas don't mind the U.S merchandise or other threads hehe

I never knew that...There is an Asda's about a half hour drive from where I live.

I think "Merchandise watch UK" is a good idea. Unfortunately, the current low exchange rate has made buying stuff from overseas even more expensive than usual. however, this has improved slightly of late and with a little luck may continue to improve in the forseeable future.

I have checked out some of the UK Halloween and party suppliers on line recently and found that most of their decent Halloween stuff is listed as "Out of Stock" at the moment, but it is still early days for most people I suppose.

Asda is 99.7% exactly the same as Wal-mart. There's 3 differences. The name, the primary color (wal-mart = blue asda = green) and the currency sign.

The merchandise is exactly the same stuff, and i mean exactly. They have a George clothing section both in the US and the UK for example.

And if you ever happen to be in the US during September/October, go to wal-mart, look at the halloween stuff. Then go to asda. Same stock, same packaging, same name.

It's everything you can buy in the US and it's relatively cheap. I probably get around 60-70% of my entire seasons haul from there.

They also sell alot of imports from Party City (another US seasonal chain)

Tesco have started to show a big boost in the amount of floorspace they devote to halloween in the past couple years. Last year having being 2 huge sections and the 4 isles surrounding them.

Then i'd say ebay is your best bet. Followed by pound stores, party stores and card stores. The last two being the most expensive.

Just thought i'd try and help add a little info but yeah there was a UK merch thread last year and i'm sure this year it'll be just as popular.

I shall definitely be checking out Asda this year! I had no idea they were Walmart with an English accent.
I agree about the Party stores being expensive, though. I recently needed a wig for my new witch prop. I stopped by the Party shop while I was in town and they were asking £14.99.
I got the same wig (new) off e-bay for £6.99 with free p&p.
