Just wanted to see how others are doing at garage sales? We head out over lunch break on Thursdays and Fridays and hit up a half dozen or so. Getting real good at identify potential halloween sales just from the road before we stop. There is just different types of sales, like old people sales are generally just good to keep driving on by.
Each time I have come back with at least something. Usually its small items. Skulls, cauldrons, lights etc. Probably my favorite so far is an old wolf man mask that I picked up for a dollar. I kind of wonder if it is a collectors item in some circles.
So how is your garage sale hunting been going?

I got 3 lampshades for free. One I will use (after recovering it) and the other 2 will probably end up hiding haunt lighting.
Also got a nice cabinet with a flip up table side for extra surface area in the house. Am going to use it as a side/end table in the living room since our furniture has high arms. Paid $15 for it at the Hospice thrift store.

Garage sales aren't my normal target. I like the free stuff, so I keep an eye out for people that have stuff set out with free signs. That is how I got my reindeer motor and my hard hat helmet. Plus all the pallets and wood I snag.

I got a large cauldrom for $2 and one of those faux carvable pumpkins (or funkins) for $1. Also some Halloween rubber stamps to use in my card making for 50 cents each all in one day. It was a pretty good trip.

well i have just started checking out garage sales recently. Last year i got a couple nice old empire blow mold decorations. Unfortunately this year so far i havent had any luck. A couple weeks ago i found 3 masks, but all were damaged too badly to be used for props.
EVERY DAY TO ME IS HALLOWEEN!

Sounds like some are getting some descent finds. I think as more electronics items hit the halloween market more good stuff will show up in garage sales. Just stuff that may still work or doesnt work, but more or less lost its novelty. At least that is what I am finding. Picked up 2 motion activated wall skeletons that talk and move their eyes for a quarter a piece. Never bring more than $20 with me and that usually lasts 2 or 3 weeks. I would say that I have picked up at least $200 new in store items that is 2 or 3 years old for $30.

i love yard sales!
especially the 'old people' ones! You keep right on driving by them because that leaves all the good stuff for me!
old suits for costumes, old costumes...vintage decorations, things that can be creepified with little work..ive gotten more than a few things that didnt really need any paint..lol

I havn't found ANYTHING halloween at any garage sales yet this year. I'm hoping as the summer goes on I will like I did last year.

I just hit one up today and was late enough to get everything for free. I was going to ht a bunch more, but they were all closed up and there wasn't anything on the curb. Why do people think garage sales at 8AM are a good idea?
The one really halloweeny thing i picked up is a crawling skeleton hand, it's ok, needs a little work.
