So here's a poll for ya. . . Masks vs. Makeup?? Which one is better?

I prefer make-up. The thing with masks is that your just so limited. Masks only have one expresssion and they never look that good unless you pay really good money. Also masks dont really move unless of course, you fork over more cash. I think with mae-up you can be more creatice with things likes colors and shodowing. it really is amazing what you can do with it and the effects you can create. And also you can add latex pices or just latex its self and come up with some awsome gory looks! The one thing I hate the most is going to a haunted house and seing the same zombie mask in every room. If you would just eliminate those masks, you could have all diffrent kinds of looks. Thats my 2 cents.

This is something I'd like to comment on:

I'd have to say makeup. Granted, if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask either do to you feel you lack artful abilities in that department or you just can't seem to get use to the feel of something constantly on your skin- A mask is the way to go.

But in working at a Top Rated Haunted House, I've found out a really kool technique of combining the two. They're called sock masks, where you virtually make a liquid latex mask, or "sock" of your head, and put a prosthetic or facial appliance onto it.
It's more form fitting to your head, and if you're claustrophobic, I don't recommend it, but it works fantastic. It looks like you're wearing a working, moving prosthetic- but it's a removable mask.

So...I like both. Haha

I've used both, and the masks that I've liked the best have been more prosthetic pieces than actual masks, so that I could talk and eat (and DRINK!!) and have some expression. But I really enjoy seeing what can be done with makeup, too. I guess I like both, too!

Put me down for makeup too. It's uncomfortable to wear a mask for a long period of time. My face gets sweaty, and it's harder to breathe. With common makeup, I hardly know it's there. Unless I make extensive use of latex and the like, makeup is much easier to wear for me.

Depends on the scene and the effect you're going for. We use a variety of masks on static props. Some of our actors also wear masks. Make-up is certainly more flexible but there are some excellent masks out there with really good sculpts that are pretty impressive. This is one we use almost every year on an actor. It weighs a lot and is quite warm inside but gets a great reaction. After two hours, you're more than ready to take it off.

I have no makeup skilz....so a mask it is.

Well it depends on what look you are going for. Masks are cool but if you are good at make-up you can do a lot add pieces to the make-up and such I don't know now I am torn like I said it depends!!!!!

Appliances/Prosthetics are the way to go for the best look.

But, masks have their places. Especially where little ones need to be shown it's just a mask.

I'm more of a make up person. With make up you can personalize it more. Mask are good for quick clean up and are reusable year after year.

But yea I take make up over the mask anytime. :-)
