Hey now that the season is done and we created so many Foam guys I really want to get into some other stuff... Monster mud being a big thing but also some other new stuff we have never done. I know many of you out here have The prop build books that are out there like DC Design and Terror Syndicate's stuff and a few others but my question is where or what should I buy? I like the Terror Deal, for the 5 books it's $162Can and the DC books are going for $65 plus shipping. This is my Christmas present to myself and was hoping to get some input for you guyz and make my decision...

The Terror stuff seems to be the best but they are pretty costly. The books are just photo copies of an orignal so they are not the greatest of quality but the info is pretty good. You pretty much need the book that goes along with the dvd to get all of the info. There is stuff in each one that the other one doesn't have. They are not copies of each other.
There is something that you could try if you have a little patiens. It could take some time but you could get the books and dvds for free. You can check with your local library or espically if you live near a large city library you can put in a request for the books and movies. Then have your friends put in requests for those books as well. Once they get several requests for the books and dvd's they will usually buy them and offer them for rent. We did that and they bought them.Prop and Haunt Building Club

Hi
I'm a professional prop builder in Canada, and there are a series of books including
The Prop Builder's Molding & Casting Handbook by Thurston James which imho are the best bang for your buck in terms of general skills and techniques, including how to make an awesome mold of a sculpture or other object you wish to replicate.
The other books include The Theater Props Handbook.
good luck

There is a book called Haunted Illusions. By Paul Osborne. This book has lots and lots of ideas for bulding halloween props and illusions. It also has a section about lighting. Is a great book.
