Hope and trust all of you had an awesome experience this year.
It snowed two days prior to the big night and the howlin' wind had kept on a-blowin' real good all through the day Friday. It was so windy, I had to keep the garage door closed when taking the day shots because, otherwise, the FCG would get tangly-snarled up like a desperate Wall St investment banker in an IPO-less world.
Then just around 5pm, as things started to get underway, the wind vanished. Poof. Utterly gone. It was also a balmy 13C (55F). Unbelievably nice conditions when you want to run three smoke machines and an FCG.
The only challenge that day had been the meltdown of the old amp I had been using. My younger bro, who also produced the ridiculously scary five-minute Halloween soundscape, came through with sound equipment.
Very awesome as the sound action - particularly the dreadfully disturbing piece he put together - is so utterly key.
The turnout was massive with some 500 bags of candy handed out and the usual gridlock in the road.
The reactions were awesome. The kids are easy to entertain; it's when their parents are overcome with joy that I find myself particularly satisfied. I also enjoyed overhearing how the homeowner must have hired professionals to decorate the zone.
Here are some of the photos; a bunch of daytime and nighttime shots can be found at this link. It was my first time taking night shots with the new cam and I discovered some of them look a tad unfocused despite a lack of any movement. Oh well, will have to experiment.

New things include improved cemetery lighting - i.e., much more blue - a web spinner (man, they really do an amazing job), a complete rebuild of the FCG armature, a bunch of new homemade tombstones, and this guy as inspired by Halloween Overlord Pumpkinrot's 'Cloaked Ghost Dead' from last year.
Broad daytime view of layout. The right garage door was closed to protect the FCG:
Keeping an eye on the corn:
If you look closely, you'll see a skelly clamouring over the fence (in or out?). I did it on a whim and really liked the effect; plan to add a few more next year.
Pumpkinrot-themed night watchman in the middle will have a new, leashed friend in 2009.
