Hi, folks! My middle son is in kindergarten. They have a pumpkin carving contest tomorrow at school.
I decided to go for "most unusual shape" by using a squash instead of a pumpkin. (I hope it's allowable!) It was HELL to carve. It was so hard! I had already cut the bottom off to scrape, but it was too hard to get up into the neck so I carved off the top too and all of a sudden it looked like Frankenstein.
So here's our Frankenstein made out of a butternut squash (be kind...remember he's only five):
Wish us luck!

That looks great, really. Should def win a prize. Most unusual shape or most original if they have that category.
Can't help but think it might look better if the lips were black too, but either way he did a great job.

Thanks, Dan! Black lips. We'll do that. That's a great idea. I think the "monster" in the black-and-white original did wear black lipstick, come to think of it.

Looks great, hope he wins. Pumpkins are squashes too I believe so unless it stipulates it has to be a pumpkin you guys are a shoe in.
